First up are my Monsieur Z dolls by Jason Wu which I haven't spoken about on here. I only recently found out about them and I really liked their style. They were released, I believe in 2005/2006. They have a very retro fifty/sixty style that I find quite appealing.
I found a really great deal on ebay for these two lovely ladies and because the seller was in Australia, they got here super fast.
I love how they are packaged. Reminds me of those little boxes you get for your meals on a plane trip.
Their Certificate of Authenticity. I got "Fly Girl" from the flight series and "Global Babe".
This one is Fly Girl. She is an air hostess I think. She had never been taken out of her box so everything was still taped up and intact. I fell in love with her face first and then her outfit. I think I will still get some additional outfits for them or try to make them myself. Something retro.
This is Global Babe. I think she is one of the travellers. Again, never been taken out of her box so it was pretty cool that I get to take her out. The level of detail on these outfits and accessories are amazing.
The stand that comes with them is quite gorgeous and sturdy. They can't really stand on their own but that's okay as they'd be mostly sitting anyway when I get the diorama done.
No names for these girls yet. I have to do some research! Close up photos of the girls.
And finally, my custom MH Goulia from Tin Ink Studio.
She has no wig at the moment. I'll either buy or make the wig.
I was surprised that she weighs practically nothing. And she's so tiny and petite. I think I'm a converted MH fan. I need at least another two of these dolls for my collection.
I am waiting on one more doll but the tracking on that has fallen off the face of the earth so I will need to hound my postal service tomorrow to see if I can track it down.
Those Monsieur Z girls are amazing! I have a weakness for retro style and their stylized eyes are very striking. It'll be fun to see the diorama you create for them. Some Shag art would look great in it, I bet.
ReplyDeleteYour MH girl is beautiful too! Her eyes are so detailed and the colors used in her face-up are lovely. Yeah, MH is addictive. You can't have just one. :)
I have a weakness for retro style myself. I think this is solely the reason I felt so drawn to these Monsieur Z dolls. Plus, the clothing rocks. I really want to try and hunt down Park Avenue to add to this collection (I love her beehive hairstyle).
DeleteI am really quite surprised by the MH doll. So petite. For some reason I thought they'd be bulkier. I love the feel and weight of her. I think I'd only get one or two more, actually, after rearranging my display cabinet downstairs, I could fit in two more of these girls but that would be my limit as I plan to have at least five of the fashion royalty dolls and two or three Pureneemo dolls.
Oooh I love fly girl. I never bought her. Maybe I should have. I love that box etc.
ReplyDeleteThey do come packaged in quite a unique way. I really adore everything about these dolls and am so glad I was lucky enough to pick two of them up. I want at least one more and that will do me for the MZ collection.
DeleteOmg I love the clothes on the one in the orange!! She's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAre the eyes cut out of that MH doll? that's interesting....I have two I've been trying to find time to customize (but I had a hard time getting the rooted hair out and gave up), and never thought to cut out the eyes in order to change them. She's pretty! Congrats!
Nope, the eyes aren't cut out of the MH dolls although Tin Ink has done MH dolls with their eyes cut out and they look really neat. She is such an amazing artist/customizer. I'd highly recommend her. She's very easy to work with. And if she doesn't have the doll you want, she can try and get it for you.
DeleteI actually love the weight of these MH dolls. For some reason, I thought they could stand on their own though but they can't ... maybe with shoes? Doesn't matter, they sit like troopers.
