Don't mind the phone photo. I got a new smart phone and am still trying to figure out the camera. Was too lazy to grab the big camera and fuss around with it.
I will hopefully have some new photos in the next few weeks of my Popodoll Bomu who has been away getting a face up by the fabulously talented Fabuula Rasa. I got the preview shots of his finished look and he looks amazing. I can't wait.
My two Saints (OE and SA faceplates) are currently with an Australian face up artist. I'm pretty excited to see how they will come out.
And my AOD Gu is being posted off shortly to Ticuk for a new face up. I accidentally ripped off a fair chunk of his face up around his lip area when I tried removing his piercings. It broke my heart. I love that face up. At least I have photos of it. Needless to say, I will not be putting temporary piercings on a doll again after this fiasco. At least with the one on his eyebrow, I can hide it with hair but the one on his lip, it's like an eyesore, accusing me everytime I look at his face.
I'm also looking for another face up artist to give two of my MSDs a new face up but I haven't decided on who yet. I have a few in mind though.
I am still dragging my feet on the yo-sd front. I'm kind of thinking that maybe this year, I just don't buy a doll. Novel idea, I know. It'll be the first year since I started in this hobby that I didn't buy a doll. The problem is, there are just too many choices and you can get a bit overwhelmed after looking at the tenth yosd that might work for you. Better to just use that money on new face ups for existing dolls.
I love that you make a scrapbook for your doll photos! I don't do anything with mine...I think that's so amazing!
ReplyDeleteUgh...piercings. Alex 2.5 is actually the direct result of me wanting to put piercings on Alex but not wanting to ruin any of their faceups...so I got another one. And he had the piercings for all of 5 minutes and no one ever saw them XD There's just no good way to go about doing them! They always fall off and totally ruin a good faceup. ....I feel the need to do it again now....
I'm kind of excited to see everyone's new look when they make it back! I hope to see pictures! :D I love doll makeovers. It's like giving an old sculpt a whole new life.
Well, as much as I adore YO sized dolls and enabling, if you're still unsure of which one to get waiting is probably the way to go. My first one grabbed me, and I had to get him. There was no waffling. My other one was sold off to a new home because I liked him, but he wasn't OMGLOVE if that makes sense. And there really are so many out there....it's hard to decide. It took me a couple years, but I realized that what I like in a YO (other than North, he's the only really different one I have) is the :< face. Leeke D Bebe, Soom Ai, Afi and Flint all have that face. LM Audrey sorta has it (it's the same face but angrier lol), even DC Faust has it and I didn't choose him! It's why I went with Rose over MIa when the LTF SteamPunks were released from Fairyland (tho Rose almost didn't make it - she looks so adult next to my other YOs). I think once you realize what it is you like in a certain doll, it's easier to weed out the rest. The only problem is I already had like, 5 before I suddenly realized they kinda look the same XD
So yeah....a lot of words to say I think waiting is a good way to go! Unless you suddenly find one you just HAVE to have. That's usually how it works....lol

DeleteIt's a real shame about the piercings as I love them on my male dolls but after what happened with Gu, I don't think I'll be attempting that ever again.
Thanks for the sound advice. I am kind of still unsure. I think it mostly stems from the fact I had owned two yo sized dolls previously and they ended up going. And I don't really play that much with the two 16cm sized dolls I do have at the moment. I suspect sometimes I hang on to them because I just think the size of their clothing is just too cute.
