Lashes and Neemos

I've been putting it off for months now but today after cleaning out the doll wardrobe, I decided to sit down and put in those pesky lashes for Maiya. I really dislike putting in lashes because they are so fiddly and just plain frustrating. My hat is off to the face up artists who do it on a regular basis!

Here she is with her brand new lashes. They are really fine but I love them on her. I just have to let it dry and set overnight and hope the eye putty doesn't pull it out when I put her eyes back in.

A few posts ago, VampireAngel13 asked me about the size of the pureneemo. I decided to take a photo with the latest boy with my Minifee Carl.

I would say the equivalent of Yo size but slimmer.

I've been having problems with my camera today and the lighting here has been horrible. I need to find a better spot in my house with better lighting.

  1. Congratulations Alasse, for going where you never dared go before!! You did a very neat job of it too...well done kiddo. :) Hey the photography isn't as bad as you think, don't be so critical of yourself.
    Hugs,

    1. Thanks! Although I think I didn't cut it short enough. I have to figure out what to do with the ends.

And thank you. The daylight here has been so yellow-ish lately.

  2. I used to hate putting eyelashes too, but after I did it lots of times and realized what worked for me and what not, I don't dislike it that much. I found out that shorter ones are easier to me to put since they I can't make them look down/depressed when glued, so I go for that. I love long lashes but I just can't make them work :(
You did a lovely job!! Great way to start the year, by doing the things you were postponing since forever :D I should do that too XD

    1. Thank you! Where do you get the short lashes from? I always thought there was only one size and you just had to trim them. Showing my lack of knowledge here aren't I?

    2. not at all!! and I don't think there is any realisticly short ones anyways.
Normally they sell this 2 types:
      http://formydoll.com/shop/step1.php?number=1310&b_code=B20070608045104
      http://formydoll.com/shop/step1.php?number=708&b_code=B20070608045104

I always go for the second type it's not "bjd scale" short, but I find them easier to put because when I trim the lashes I just make a mess X(

    3. Oh and btw I still need to cut them to fit the eye of the doll because they are still human eye sized.
The difference is only the lenght of the hairs (I don't like gluing them with half the hair lenght inside the head because the lashes tend to start looking down easier that way)
Sorry for my fail english x.x

    4. I was just about to ask the same question about the lashes! Thanks for the information! :)

    5. @Fantasywoods - Thanks so much for the links. I did notice that with the lashes when I was trying them in without the glue, how they do seem to slant downwards if half of the lashes is inside the head.

  3. Eyelashes are my nemesis. I feel your pain. I hate doing them so much!! I've only gotten a little better at it over the years - just enough to want to yank out everyone's eyelashes and start over from scratch. It looks like you did a great job with yours!

And yay! thanks for the picture. I'm impressed, they're actually bigger than I was expecting!

    1. Thanks! I already had to yank her eyelashes out a few times before it would sit halfway decent. Lucky the glue hadn't yet dried so it was easy enough to do!

They feel Yo size in my hands whenever I pick them up.
