I've been sorting out my old photos from the last few years and noticed a photo I had taken last year of my modded dreaming Shushu girl. Looking at this photo, I realised this is the look I actually always liked for her but unfortunately I sold the wig along with a doll a while back. Lucky I know exactly where that wig came from so I can get a hold of it again but I am still debating whether I want to stay with the style. I definitely like the colour on her.
I posted out my Halloween Head for a face up finally yesterday. And I noticed I had a black curly mohair wig in my stash so that will go well with her planned face up which will be more of a dramatic gothic style.
There's not been much news on the dolly front at the Inn. Other than the Pullip Mad Hatter in Steampunk World and an Azone Pureneemo Kohina on pre-order, I am not really waiting on anything else. Whilst there have been some really lovely bjd sculpts released to date, there's really not been any that have grabbed me in a way that I have to have.
Once my Halloween Head comes back, that will be the last of the dolls needing face ups. Everyone else has face up, clothes, wigs (for the most part) so I guess I can say that my bjd collection is pretty much complete. A few odds and ends here and there but otherwise, they really are complete. Wow, did I just say that? It feels a little anti-climatic.
As for the other doll collections, I don't really need anything else for them. I might get two of the default MH dolls repainted and body blushed and maybe try to put together some fantasy-esque clothing for them but that's pretty much it. They're also apparently releasing a small selection of 17" MH dolls but unless they do a Ghoulia or Operetta in that size, I will probably pass.
I joined the W Club this year for the Integrity Toys FR dolls but so far, I haven't bought a single one that has been released this year. I tried for Out of this world Poppy Parker but she was so insanely popular, she sold out quickly and I'm not willing to pay the second hand prices for her. I also put myself into the lottery for Rare Jewel Rayna but didn't win. As for the other releases this year, I haven't really been interested enough to purchase.
So, all in all, a very quiet doll year for me at the Inn.
It's kind of interesting to look back on your dolly habits over the years, isn't it? :O it seems you collect a large variety of dollies!
ReplyDeleteYour Shushu is so lovely with her light hair, perhaps you could try several wigs and take photos and see how they all photograph? :3
I never used to collect anything but bjds and figmas but then I got into fashion royalty and MH and Pullips so it's expanded somewhat. Bascially MH dolls are the ones I would have loved as a kid but I never got many dolls growing up so maybe I am making up for it now!
DeleteThat's a good suggestion. I might try that. There's only a small handful of wigs I would put on her anyway so it shouldn't be too big of an issue. But yes, I do like her with lighter hair.
Hi Alasse!
ReplyDeleteYour Shushu girl, does look quite stunning in that wig, I can see why you like her in that colour. I like Irene's idea of trying a few different styles and photographing them, but somehow I have this feeling you'll end up re-ordering the one she's wearing now. :)
I guess we all look over our dolly collection every now and then, just to polish up those who have been neglected, or move on those we don't love as much as we should and generally try to consolidate. I have done that recently, but have found temptation once again, so you never know what's around the next corner and the Inn may become a hive of activity before you know it! LOL!
Now just to satisfy my curiosity, what's the W Club?
Hugs,
X
Hey Xanadu, you're probably right about the wig but there is this nice aqua coloured one at Luts I thought I might order as well to compare. It's a shame Luts don't have more white wigs though as I generally like their wigs.
DeleteI still want a Real Skin Brown doll from Luts. I love that resin colour and kind of regret not getting my Luts Maska in that colour when I ordered him so I'm hoping they will release more KDF and HDF sculpts this year. It will be either one or the other. But I might have to wait a bit as I splurged yesterday on an Intuos tablet to do some of my digital drawing and painting on.
The W Club is a club for collectors of Integrity Toys line of Fashion Royalty dolls. Here is their website: http://www.integritytoys.com/ There is several lines; Fashion Royalty, Poppy Parker, Nu Face, Dynamite Girls, Jem Dolls etc.
You pay a fee to join (per year), I think it's something like 50 USD and you get new release news before the public and sometimes, you get member only lotteries for dolls that are only available to club members. You also get access to their club forum where they have monthly contests and you also get discounts from various suppliers (ie. 10% off shipping or product vouchers). This year, we also got free digital subscriptions to Haute Doll Magazine.
I joined mostly hoping to finally be able to pick up a Poppy Parker (their most popular line of dolls) but sadly, she was so popular, she sold out before I could order one. All IT dolls usually have a limited edition number of dolls they will produce and those numbers are usually small (ie. 500-800), small because there are at least 1000+ members.
That's it in a nutshell, from what I understand anyway. This is my first year in the club and I still have not been able to get a single doll. I don't think I will join up next year though. I don't believe it's an advantage to join (at least for me) other than the discounts, which is pretty much useless if you can't get the doll you want anyway.
