Christmas is over for another year and what a year it's been. A lot of downs but also a few silver linings to be seen.
Today, I wanted to share some photos that were taken just before Christmas. We went to my husband's parents' house to see their annual Christmas lights. They tend to go all out and I took the opportunity to take some photos of some of their Christmas decorations.
I took Eve and Sebastian over with me. The in-laws always have a really cool looking tree with lots of decorations. Our tree is a bit sad in comparison!
I love this tree decoration. It's not something I've seen before and was quite eye catching.
A cat in a box. What more can I say?
They had this set up on a side table. It's a little village at Christmas time.
Santa is snoozing on the job I see.
A small section of the lights in their yard. The effect is pretty great and very festive.
Wowow, your in-laws have the best decoration ever~ as a child I could have spent hours looking at the Christmas village set up xD in fact I probably still could; it's amazing! :D :D
ReplyDeleteThey've had that set displayed every year for as long as I can remember. Each year, they add a little piece that they picked up on their yearly holiday trips. And now it's a whole village. There is lots to see and some of the buildings you can see into (like the one with Santa sleeping). There's also a bakery that has a bit of its doors open so you can see some light coming out onto the steps. Very detailed stuff. I still find that I discover new things about the village every year.
DeleteHi Alasse,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful is that little village, I love it! That's something I have always wanted but never had the room for. That decoration of the lady says a lot about your mother in law. Nothing better than shopping (except **x). Looks like you enjoyed your day.
Hugs,
X
It is amazing isn't it? They go to a lot of trouble at Christmas time to decorate both inside their home and outside. In fact, the street they live on decorate their lawns with lots of Christmas lights. It's always really quite lovely to see and very festive.
DeleteThe funny thing is, her friend gave her that decoration for a Secret Santa. She actually doesn't like to shop that much even though she does seem to go out shopping a lot!!
They always get new tree decorations every year and it's interesting to see. I always wonder what new ones will be on the tree that year!
Wow, that looks amazing! I love those Christmas villages... :D
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it though? There's always a lot to see. I love that they go all out. My parents never did, my Dad didn't even have a Christmas tree up this year.
DeleteOh wow what a great christmas must that be!!!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a christmas village but each house is so expensive haha XD! maybe when I own my own house :D! Here is not common for people to decorate so much, the only decoration outside the houses is a wrath in the door lol so lame, some houses have been putting a few lights on the last few years but that's all.
I wish I could be there in your in laws house haha that must feel like a dream~ and they have so unique trees decorations too!
The in-laws purchased the village I think over a span of about ten years so they would buy a building each year and now they have a whole village. So if you start small, and have a lot of patience, you will be able to have your own village one day too!
DeleteWe only have a Christmas tree up. That's about the extent of our decorations unless Christmas lunch is at our house in which case, I'll make more of an effort to decorate a bit more.
They really get into the Christmas spirit over there so it's nice to go over. I think Christmas is going to be at their house again next year as my sister-in-law is talking about coming up for Christmas. We haven't seen her and her family in a few years, probably close to ten years! (They live in another state which also happens to be expensive to fly to.)
Oh man, your in-laws' Christmas decorations remind me so much of how my mom and grandmothers liked to decorate for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks wonderful, so Christmassy! The little village is sweet, and it's good to know they are some of the ones who like to put lights outside! I always love driving around seeing them... I bet I've passed by their house without knowing it.
Eve and Sebastian look so classic, and his outfit really does work well for the Tenth Doctor, doesn't it? Maybe you'll have to rename Eve to Rose? ;)
I'm glad the in-laws are like that because this year just didn't feel too much like Christmas sadly. Probably because of everything that's happened this year but at least the festive feeling over at their house perked us both up a lot.
DeleteThey take about 2-3 weeks just to put up the lights in their yard. I am not sure I would have the energy!
When I showed my mother-in-law Sebastian, without even saying a word about him, she instantly said, "Oh is that the Tenth Doctor?" Awesome right? Even though the colours are slightly different, I don't really have to follow the suit cannon. I'm most likely going to rename him "The Doctor". Which is cool as I've wanted the Tenth Doctor in my BJD crew for quite a while now.
Somehow, I can't see Eve as a blonde!
