Misaki is produced by FR Nippon which is I believe the Japanese branch of Integrity Toys. The actual box details has her listed as "F.L.C. Misaki As For Me, Integrity Toys X Taeko Sekiguchi". So perhaps a collaboration between two companies?
Misaki, along with Poppy Parker and Elise Jolie are the reasons why I started collecting Fashion Royalty dolls but until now, I haven't been able to get my hands on any of the dolls that started me on this journey. Primarily because they are hard dolls to get in the first place and second-hand prices for those particular models are pretty high.
So of course, I was pretty excited when a blog I followed posted photos of the new Misaki dolls that were being released in December 2015. From what I've seen, Misaki seem to only be released once a year so that is going to be great for my wallet! And she does sell out fast when she comes up for pre-order. I was lucky enough to actually see her come up for pre-order at HS and managed to snag her. I believe she's now sold out on there. And these dolls rarely get restocked as they are usually a limited number of releases.
From everything I've read, it seems like Misaki is only available to purchase in Japan or Japanese online stores. I don't often see her available at any of the US retailers that sell these type of dolls. You can't even get her on the US Integrity Store, so maybe she's exclusive to Japan?
My Misaki arrived today. I was hoping she'd get here Christmas Eve but sadly, that wasn't the case but she's here now. She is a Christmas gift from my husband and my very first Misaki.
This girl was packed really well. This box was inside another box which was inside the HS box so she was triple boxed!! I love the design of her box. It's very modern and fresh.
Secured inside the box. She still looks quite lovely. Tempting to leave her in the box but heck, I want to play with these dolls!
Her accessories, red heeled pumps which are quite lovely and a handbag that actually opens and closes.
She even has a cute little tag on her wrist. Her hands do come out which will make dressing her so much easier!
Now usually, companies will concentrate on the doll and the stand base is an afterthought but wow, this one is gorgeous. It reminds me a little of the Monsieur Z ones. And it's pretty solid. No thin plastic here.
The best part ... she stands without aid. That's right. She comes with flat feet rather than the heeled feet like my regular FR girls and she stands on her own.
Close-up of her beautiful face. I love the side glancing eyes. There were two versions, this one and the other one which had blonde hair and brown eyes. I really wanted a blue eyed Misaki so I got this one but her tomboyish vibe really appealed to me too.
One last photo of her standing by herself because my FR dolls normally don't stand unaided so this is just too awesome.
Her face is a bit shiny in places but I think that was due to some styling product getting on her face. There wasn't a ton of product in her hair though which is nice. I managed to get the shiny parts off with a q-tip and warm water and she looks quite perfect now. It was definitely hair product that strayed a bit off the hair most likely.
I am really quite pleased with her. Now ... if only my lottery win Poppy Parker would get here! She was shipped International Priority on the 13th December and she's still not here. At least she's in the country ... somewhere.
And surprisingly, my Pureneemo Chiika shipped on Christmas Day! Wow HS, above and beyond. So she should be here early next week.
Congrats on your new arrival! I also used to own one Misaki girl ~ since I quite like their design! ~ your girl is so pretty, I love the rooted eye lashes on these ladies, they really remind me of the vintage barbie design which I also really admire~
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was really excited to get her and I am definitely in love. I adore the more subtle face screening on these dolls. The FR girls tend to be very bold in their face screening, colours, design etc.
DeleteVintage barbie are quite nice looking. I never collected Barbie but I still do enjoy looking at the various types over the years. Their Black/Gold label releases are pretty stunning.
She's lovely! Her accesories and outfit look so detailed too. :)
ReplyDeleteI kind of want shoes like hers! The handbag does work too which is nice. I might try sticking a 1/6 scale novel in there later.
DeleteVery pretty Alasse, nice costuming too! She sort of reminds me of a brunette Barbie though,is that the intention? Or is my vivid imagination runnning away with itself? ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
X
Thanks Xanadu. I'm really happy with her. Hmm, now that you mention it, she does a little. I think her face screening is a little softer than what Barbie generally has - although I have seen the newer articulated Barbie and their faces are quite a bit softer. The Misaki dolls do remind me a little of the face screening used with Momoko dolls which is the softer more subtle style compared to the FR girls.
DeleteWow She's stunning!! congrats!!!! I think is my favorite one of all your other fashion dolls, I love how real the accessories and shoes look and they must be super tiny!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Oh the shoes are, they're probably about the same size as Pureneemo shoes ...hmmm, I wonder if they'd fit those shoes, I must try later. IT always do some rather stunning accessories for their dolls which is nice. And it's made out of real fabric rather than plastic which is what the MH girls come with so that is a nice change of pace.
DeleteCongrats on getting her home, she's really pretty! How great that your husband is supportive of the doll hobby and bought her for you as a Christmas present ^^
ReplyDeleteI got a shipping notice for Chiika too, though a few days after Christmas. I'm only keeping the outfit actually (for the Squirrel Chiika I have) and a friend is getting the nude doll :) Hope yours arrives safely!
Thank you! I am very thankful that he supports my doll hobbies. His parents do too (in fact they were the ones who bought me two MH dolls for Christmas). I just wish my family were as open minded. But oh well.
DeleteThe Chiika that is coming is my birthday present from him. It'll be a few weeks early but he doesn't mind that I open it up early.
I just feel lucky that HS opened up pre-orders for as many times as they did (she must have been in high demand!) so I was able to snag one. Last I checked on the tracking, I believe she will be here either next Monday or Tuesday mostly because our postal service here has a public holiday on New Year's Eve so they don't work that day.
Hope yours arrive safely to you! Even if you're only keeping the outfit! And great that your friend was able to score a Chiika anyway.
