A few weeks ago, Irene of Caketown (thanks Irene!) posted some Doll/BJD Blog Tags that I've been itching to do. I'll be doing them in no particular order, just whatever floats my boat that particular day/week.
Today's tag is Dolls and Food.
1. First, share a favourite recipe or favourite food with us please!
My all-time favourite food are Honey Snaps. Whenever I eat them, I am reminded of easier, happier days, coming home from school peckish and knowing we had a box of cornflakes in the cupboard. Add a bit of honey, sugar and butter to the cornflakes and you have a tasty crunchy treat.
I actually made some a while back and was experimenting at the time with food photography so took a photo of my sweet nostalgic treats.
2. Next, share a photo of your doll & some food (real or miniature).
Of course, I had to use Kestrel for this one because she's just so darn cute. The cookie in this photo was made by a friend of mine a few years ago. Sadly, her etsy store disappeared so you can no longer purchase these gorgeous goodies from her and I don't believe she's been around or active in the community for a long time now. It's a shame as she made some great clothing and very realistic looking miniature food items.
3. If your dolls could eat, but they could only choose to eat one thing, what would they choose?
My dolls probably take after me in that they all have a sweet tooth so they could eat something sweet, cakes, cookies etc. Doing this tag has made me realise, I need more miniature food for my dolls!
Wow, at first I thought the food picture looked like it came straight from a magazine~ it looks so professional! I'd love to try making some of these as well, do they keep for a while?
ReplyDeleteI love that cookie, the icing details on it are just amazing :O If your friend still had that store I'd definitely like to buy some from her @o@
I think that goes for my dollies too, especially since they don't have to worry about their teeth I guess! Hahaha :D
Glad to see this meme has inspired you ~ I hope to see more different kinds of photos from you x3
Thanks for the kind words on my food photo! They do keep for up to 5 days in an airtight container generally (I keep mine in the fridge) but if your place is anything like mine, they disappear within a day or two. They're just so tasty, you can never stop at one! Fair warning!
DeleteI am kicking myself I didn't buy more from her when her store was open. I kept meaning to go back and get some but never got around to it.
Strangely enough, the only thing that I'm not overly fond of is chocolate. I like it in small doses but it's not my weakness, that would be really nice ice cream!
This was so sweet!! and looks yummy too ahahaha XD I also have a sweet tooth :D
ReplyDeleteI agree with Irene, the food photo looks so professional~
You are the first I see doing this tags, congrats haha I have a list of the ones I want to do but I haven't had the time to start
Kestrel is so cute and I love the details on the cookie!
The more realistic miniature food looks, the more tasty it all seems. Some people are just so talented. And thank you for the kind words on my photo. I enjoy food photography a lot, setting up the shot, taking the photo although that usually means I can't eat the food until the photos are done so I tend to keep a small portion for photos and the rest I eat as I take the photos especially if it's something sweet!
DeleteIt was hard to decide which one I wanted to do first as there were many that I wanted to do! I hope you'll be able to find some time to do some yourself. I'll keep an eye out!
Dolls and food - that's a new tag to me, but a fun one! And Kestrel and the cookies are adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love it if you could do the tag, maybe with that yummy looking croissant you got the other day. Now that was tasty looking.
DeleteI really need to take more photos of Kestrel.
Hi Alasse,
ReplyDeleteCornflakes??? Well that one took me by surprise while I was munching mine this morning. I'm glad you jogged my memory about Irene's tags. I had a bit of a giggle at Irene's comment, we all know here, they are never around long enough to keep.
Love the photo of your sweet little Kestrel, she's a darling tiny with a beautiful face up. I'd love to see more of her on your blog.
If I wasn't still working on my dio I'd be joining you on this journey right now, but I mustn't get side tracked again. I must say, I really did enjoy this post.
Hugs,
X
Oh my gosh Xanadu, I haven't had Cornflakes for breakfast in ages. Now I am kind of wanting some! I made profiteroles on Sunday. We finished them up last night! There were 12! Love profiteroles. Too tasty.
DeleteI will need to take more photos of her. I changed out her wig with Wren's last night so I will need to take a photo of the wig swap. I still want to pick up one or two more wigs for these girls but I can never find anything. I am just too picky I think.
Well, I am all for doing your dio first. I'm patiently waiting for photos when you get it finished! I told Hubby when we go to Brisbane in May that I want to visit Ikea down there to check out the doll furniture if they have some. He just rolled his eyes.
That first photo looks like it could be in a magazine! That cookie Kestrel has looks very yummy as well. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words! I really enjoy setting up food photo shots when I get the chance. The cookie looks good enough to eat!
