Initially, I had bought this doll to replace the body for Pocahontas...however, she's not a skin match at all and I decided that I actually don't mind the face sculpt on this one and she ended up being a character of her own. She's the Made to Move Barbie (Blue Top). I honestly have no idea what her official name was but I've always liked the skin tone of this one and had debated getting her on a few occasions. Lucky for me, K-Mart had a huge sale on these recently and I picked her up for a bargain. (I'm hoping the sale means they will soon be getting in the second wave of these dolls ... I really want Orange Top. The blonde hair against that darker skin tone is a perfect marriage.)
Meet April Morgan. I am still largely working on her character and story but she'll appear alongside the other Made to Move Barbie who I will be renaming to Zoe.
April: I totally prefer the Ninth Doctor. What's there not to like? All that leather and rugged looks ... plus the way he says fantastic just makes you melt! Oh, I gotta go.
April: Hi there! I didn't see you sneak up on me like that! I guess you probably heard that. Okay, I admit it, I'm a bit of a fan girl but who isn't? Am I right?
I'm April. I'm new here and I'm not exactly sure where I'm going to be settling in. All I know is that it's probably going to be somewhere crowded. But that's okay. I don't mind crowds. It beats being alone. I mean, solitude is great and all but there's only so far a one sided conversation will get you. Not that I'm saying I talk to myself ... well ... maybe just a little ... sometimes. Everyone does that though ...
April: Ahem. Moving on. From what I've been told, I'm headed someplace called ... what was it again? Cuba? No that's not right. Canada? Hmm ... oh, Cloud 9. Makes me think of a place with happy music. Where instead of walking, you float. That would be neat, being able to just float around everywhere.
April: You want me to walk into the mirror? Seriously? I mean, that's kind of weird. You know that right? Can you even walk into a mirror? Without giving yourself a huge headache and a bump on the head. Well, I guess it can't hurt to try ...
April: I'm not really sure what's going on now. I feel kind of ... sleepy. Oh, that's normal? And when I wake up, I'll be on Cloud 9? It's that easy? I really want to ask more questions but my mind is drifting ... I feel like I'm floating ... I've always wanted to float ... Hey, what's -

I like her stylish glasses ~ and she's quite cute! I think the new jointed barbies are much more expressive than any other releases!
ReplyDeleteThose glasses are actually for Pureneemo dolls! I do love their posing ability now. I was never a fan of the original Barbie bodies.
DeleteLove nerdy dolls and glasses :D!!! She's very nice!!! I like how mattel has been doing some really nice dolls lately, her eyebrows are perfect!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to cloud 9!!
I love the photo with the mirror hehe
I like how different their sculpts are becoming and it's not just the same generic face with different make up. Have you seen the new line that has all the different size bodies and heights? I really like some of the faces on those. I just wish the bodies were Made to Move bodies though.
DeleteI was thinking about those barbies when I commented haha! I love all the new bodies! Maybe someday they'll add them to their made to move line
DeleteHi Alasse,
ReplyDeleteI must admit these Made to Move Barbie's are much better than the originals. Congrats on adding her, she's not bad at all and I enjoyed your story. :)
Hugs,
X
Thanks Xanadu! I was never a Barbie fan previously so I definitely like the new faces they are coming out with. They're interesting and I like that the make up is not too overdone on them either. It distinguishes them nicely from my FR girls who are more heavily made up.
