A new girl joined the Barbie collection today. I had seen her a few months ago when she was on special but I procrastinated a bit too long and she sold out and couldn't be found again in any of the stores until recently. I happened to be browsing in Toyworld and saw her. Of course, I purchased her right away as I regretted not doing it the first time.
She's known among collectors as "LA Girl". She's a part of the Fashionista line.
I think she has one of the nicest face screenings by Mattel and that hairstyle is just pure awesome. I had seen her with both pink and blue in some promo shots. I think the blue and pink version was either limited or only shown on the prototype. I'm not really sure the story there but I'm not really bothered by it.
She gives me a very 80s rock feel.
Playing on the new trolley I picked up at K-Mart recently. That thing is pure fun.
I can't help but think she's saying, "Mine, all mine, my precious ..." (cue Gollum voice).
I actually have her on the Made to Move body. This isn't her default body. It was the first time I had played musical heads with these dolls and it was a learning curve. Lucky I had watched some videos on Youtube before I did this and knew what to expect. I've also decided to name her Shay.
No. 26 wearing some cool shades that came with one of my Fashion Royalty dolls. I decided on a name for her. She's Ingrid.
And Zoe striking a pose. She's actually on Quinn's default body. Eventually I plan to upgrade everyone to a Made to Move body, except for Ingrid. I want to wait until Mattel decide to release a Curvy version of the MTM body and then I'll do the switch but not before. I really like the curvy body. Just want more posing ability.
April got a new dress. She looks so sweet in this. I love the little pink boots, so rebellious.

All the girls together. I love how different they all look. Their style is very different from my FR girls so I probably won't end up incorporating them into the C9 story. They kind of look a bit out of place with the Integrity dolls! I'm tossing some ideas around but I'm leaning towards a big warehouse apartment they all share together.
Ingrid is the oldest of the girls and tends to mother everyone else. She's the one the younger girls go to when they are dealing with life dramas. She owns the apartment they all share. Zoe is the youngest. She's currently in art school. April is at ballet school. Her idol is Anna Pavlova. Her dream is to one day land the coveted role of Odette in Swan Lake. Shay is the second oldest of the girls. She's a game developer for Maximum V.
I also picked up the fabric for the Tenth Doctor and Lara Croft today.
The pink bag I picked up as part of a Barbie fashion pack. I'm going to spray paint it brown and then paint in the silver buckles for Lara's backpack.
I'm using the same fabric for Tenth Doctor's trench coat and Lara's shorts. The only thing I am stuck on is finding Lara's gun. Any suggestions?

ReplyDeleteI love your little doll projects and Lara Croft is one of my childhood favorites! Perhaps you could steal some other miniature figure's guns? LOL or find some action figure guns on ebay? If you search for Hot Toys or 1/6 scale on ebay there's lots of weapons! XD

I think you could probably find some soldier figures or other action figures for cheap that include guns, or find them on ebay separately as Irene suggested!! I don't think toy stores carry miniature guns separately for their action figures, only cars haha

Me too. One of those shades would be so neat. Although because I wear glasses, I can't wear normal sunglasses anymore. It's kind of a shame!

I was thinking I might have to get a cheap action doll or something that has in scale guns. Those silver and black guns are so iconic for Lara. She must have them.

I think I am getting way too spoiled getting these Barbie dolls though because I can play with them straight away. It's not even been a month and I'm already getting impatient for the doll body I ordered for Deirdre. It's not even going to be ready until end of August. Ack!
DeleteI picked up the little lamp but didn't see the garbage bins there. I will have to have another look when I go back there. I saw they had a Marvel shirt that I want but there was none in my size at the K-Mart I went to on Saturday so I'm going to try the one closer to where I live on Thursday night.
Blue is such a lovely colour.
I washed all my fabrics today and am just waiting for them to dry so I can start cutting out the shapes. Doesn't help today is a rainy day so they're not drying too fast!
