**Can readers please let me know if the photos don't show up for you? The old Picasa Album has finally been retired by Google and I've now been forced to use Google Photos so I am hoping it works the same when embedding photos into a blog post. Thanks in advance!
I decided to buy another Made to Move "Purple Top" Barbie recently as I wanted to do experiments on the one I already had but also have one unchanged.
Don't mind the bald head. I had put this one on a fashionista body and used her MTM body for the head that came on this body. I also wiped her lip colour as I wanted something more subtle and nude.
This is the new girl. These girls are fast going out of stock so I thought I should grab one while there was some left. She seems to have more blush on her cheeks than my first one.
The first girl with no hair and lipstick. This is before my experiment.
After the experiment. She is just borrowing Ghoulia's wig for these photos. The wig is a 4-5inch and is way too big for her anyway so I will have to make the wig myself. I wanted to try out this colour on her and I don't mind it too much. I'm going to try this yarn method I found today on Youtube.
I repainted her eyes in a different colour and gave her nude coloured lips with a bit of semi-gloss on both her lips and eyes (as a sealing measure).
Just another one of her because she looks so pretty.
I'm also in the process of making Ghoulia's wig cap. I still haven't decided if I will flock one side of the wig or not.
Overall, I'm happy with the results I've achieved this weekend. It's not much as it's been pretty busy and I haven't had as much time as I would have liked but I'm glad I could do something. I'm working on a review of using a make up airbrush for sealing but that is still a bit away.
Wishing everyone a good week. Hasn't the year marched on so quickly!
OMG Alasse what a difference the wig and softer colours make, she looks like a completely different doll. You know how much I love fantasy hair, so I'm pleased you're going to keep that colour, it's really pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
X
I love fantasy hair too quite a lot but sadly, not many of the fashion dolls come with these sorts of colours so it's nice to know I have the option of giving them fantasy colours if I want to. I actually don't mind removing the hair on these dolls. I've done so many now that it doesn't take me long at all.
DeleteWow, I love your girl with the nude face-up and soft blue colored wig ~ Also the matching eye color is great!
ReplyDeleteHope your week is going well too!
I do prefer the more subtle colours on a face but I also love colourful faces too. I just tend to get a bit bored of the same red and pink that comes as a standard default for most of the Barbie line and it's usually painted on pretty thickly.
DeleteI'm seeing all the photos in this post, no worries :D
ReplyDeleteThat's such a nice idea to repaint over what's already there, it looks very nice too, like it was bought like that. I love nude lips and they suit this Barbie so well. Can't remember id there's any barbies out there with peach nude lips? I think they are all like red and pink ?
Hope work is going okay and you can rest and do some stuff today too~ And have a great week! Can't believe it's august already right?!
Thanks for letting me know that! It'll take some getting used to transitioning over to google photos but I have photobucket as a back up.
DeleteI actually got the idea from bjds. I have seen owners enhance default face ups from companies and thought it'd be neat to try it with Barbie. I think I need an even smaller brush though however the one I used is pretty small so not sure if I can actually go smaller!
The standard for Barbie seems to be red and pink. I don't really recall seeing any nude ... maybe on the Gamer Barbie I got, I'll have to check but the default is definitely thick shades of red or pink. I like a softer look so I'm glad I was able to mix the right paint colours for the lips.
Work is going good, but tiring. Always seems like my paperwork pile never seems to go down but rather keeps going up!
Have a great week too!
What a difference! She's lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteGood thing about this line is that I am feeling a lot braver about trying and experimenting different things.
DeleteOh wow, the wig and eye colour change make such a dramatic difference! It's always so impressive to see what a major difference such relatively small changes can make to the look of a doll. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that's part of the appeal of just repainting or partially repainting bits and pieces of a doll. I like that the small changes do make such a difference and it's certainly helping me to brave new experiments. I'm still a little too shy to attempt any face ups on my practice bjd head! But I am working my way up to that point (hopefully).
