My 'surprise' finally arrived in the mail. It's my third Momokodoll, Orion's Sonata. However, there's a bit of a story behind this one. Rewind back a few years ago when Luts actually sold Momokodoll on their site. This was my first exposure to Momokodoll. Back then, I didn't really know what these dolls were but flicking through the pages of available dolls, I saw Orion's Sonata and fell in love with her. I decided I wanted to buy her. Not long after, Luts had a big sale on these dolls reducing them by more than half price. Sadly, I didn't have funds at the time and didn't think much more on it until a few weeks later when I did have funds and all the Momokodolls were listed as sold out. It was at this point that an announcement was made that they would no longer carry these dolls. I had pretty much blown my chance to get her.
I didn't see this particular doll for a long time afterwards and I slowly forgot about her because she seemed pretty impossible to get. Until a few weeks ago thanks to Minimagine. She was available from Mimiwoo plus she was on sale. Of course I didn't want to repeat the same mistake I made last time so I snapped her up and the rest as they say is history.
I won't lie, it's been an anxious wait for her. I'm always a little worried when I take the chance and get a doll shipped registered post to me rather than EMS from overseas. She shipped out on the 12th October and arrived today.
Another pretty box except this one actually opens out so you can see a full view of the doll. This particular Momoko is one of the older ones that comes with a stand. I wish they hadn't changed that for the newer dolls.
Out of the box. Oooh shiney backdrop.
I really adore her outfit.
Don't know if anyone else sees it but she kind of reminds me of Mary Poppins. Gosh that was one of my favourite movies growing up.
I'm really rather pleased with her. She's an amazing doll and I think I've caught the Momoko bug!
The other piece of news I had today was an amazing gift from Xanadu. Handmade with such beautiful fabric choices and trims.
I feel so lucky to have such amazing work. I believe they are Yo-SD sized clothing. I can't wait until I can try some of these on my Bluefairy SF May when she finally ships and heads home.In the meantime, Rune has decided to claim them all for herself.
Rune: Which one shall I try on first? So many pretty things.
(She actually tried everything on and they all fit wonderfully!)
But she did decide on this little number.
After all the fittings, she is exhausted. What a great little model she was.
Thank you Xanadu!
I have a few more updates to post about but I will save those for a bit later. Hope everyone is having a great week!
Xanadu does so many pretty things!! She's so talented! and Rune looks amazing in that dress~ so colorful!
ReplyDeleteYou have officially caught the Momoko bug for sure! and there's no cure for that haha! just buy more Momokos I guess? lol
she is a lovely addition to your collection, love her clothes! And she does look a bit like Mary Poppins!!! Did you know they are going to do another Mary Poppins movie? Emily Blunt and Lin Manuel Miranda will star in it, I personally can't wait! the casting seems amazing so far and the story will be a new one too.
I think Rune is going to be one of those dolls that look good in anything. She's such a versatile little thing.
DeleteYou know, I like your cure for the Momoko bug! I'm sure there will be more once my dolly fund looks a bit healthier and has a bit more money in it!
Oh my gosh, I did not know about a new Mary Poppins movie. That is fantastic news! Everything I've seen of Emily Blunt's work so far has been pretty good. Is she Mary Poppins? Lin Manuel Miranda I am not familiar with so I will have to google that one. Can you imagine it? With the level of technology they have now, all the fun and amazing things they could with the movie. I'm quite excited about it. Thanks for letting me know! I actually saw the musical earlier this year and it was really good. The actress they got to play her was so spot on both in singing and talking voice. Filling Julie Andrews shoes though is a big call!
Yeah Emily Blunt will be Mary Poppins! Love her so much ~ She was great singing in into the woods, did you see that movie? :D
DeleteLin Manuel is the composer of Hamilton the musical (my obsession). He also starred in his own musical up until July or around that time. He also worked on some musical pieces for Moana, the new Disney movie. He's just so talented, anything he is in it's so good that I'm sure Mary Poppins won't disappoint.
I agree though, filling Julie Andrew's shoes is a huge task, she's just so amazing
Oh yeah I saw Into the Woods. I think that movie went a lot longer than it needed to. The first part was enjoyable but the second part just dragged on for me! But I did like Emily Blunt in that. I could see her as Mary Poppins.
DeleteI haven't seen Moana yet but I might just have to see it now to check out his music!
Moana is not out yet but soon :D I think this month!
DeleteAs for into the woods, I agree, they didn't translate the first act and second act of the musical smoothly so it seemed like it was such a drag when the second part of the story came into screen. Lovely music though!
I can see I will have to dig out some of my Momoko patterns Alasse, especially if you're going to continue collecting these lovely dolls. Of course I will need one as a model first...must take a look around to see who grabs my attention. I see Sonata is wearing a lovely blouse with RUFFLES!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am pleased Rune can wear most of what I sent, I knew she was a little short on clothes and the little Christmas owl dress really looks great on her.
Big hugs,
X
Oh gosh, she is too! The ruffles look nice on her I think. Oooh I'm curious which Momoko girl you would choose too! I'm pretty picky with mine. There probably won't be more for a while as the current releases I'm not totally in love with and there's one or two older releases that I like but they're generally out of stock or unavailable so I will just sit and wait. I need to build up my doll fund again anyway.
DeleteRune loves all the clothes, she was drawn to the little owl dress though. It just looks so good on her. I hope my BF May gets here before Christmas so she can wear the other dress and I can photograph them together. Thank you so much again for the lovely things.
Congrats on your new Momoko doll! I'm very glad that I helped.
ReplyDeleteShe has a lovely blouse. I also like her Mary Janes pumps.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'm really glad I could get the first Momoko girl I fell in love with. Never thought I'd ever own her so it's nice to have her finally. Her Mary Jane pumps are so nice and this one comes with a stand so it's definitely changed with the newer dolls. Tartan Syndrome and Platform Departure definitely did not come with stands. What a shame. I wonder why they went with that decision ...
DeleteWhat a great couple of arrivals!
ReplyDeleteI love your new Momo, her hairstyle is especially elegant! She does remind me a bit of Mary Poppins, or maybe even BBC's Pride & Prejudice? :O
Momoko dolls are so addictive! They're such charming dolls and don't take up much space (at least that's my excuse!).
DeleteI haven't seen BBC's pride and prejudice but I can see what you mean. She does have that rather classical look to her doesn't she?
Congrats on your new Momoko doll, she is wonderful and I really like her clothes, too. And yes, she looks a bit like Mary Poppins!
ReplyDeleteWonderful gifts Xanadu sent! <3
I'm kind of tempted now to make a Mary Poppins doll. It's up there as one of my favourite musicals along with Singing in the Rain! These dolls are just so charming.
DeleteXanadu always makes such lovely things and always very professional too.
