I've always considered my bjd collection as the dolls housing the "big" stories so over the weekend, I updated the bjd page. I also wrote a few snippets in my notebook that fleshed out my characters a bit more and was the driving inspiration for the updated bios. The snippets include titles such as, Miss Violetta's Home for Wayward Girls, Lost Boys, To Find a Lost Boy, Conversations with a God.
I find snippets and short stories help in visualizing the relationships between all the characters and how they connect to one another, even in small ways.
In today's post, I also wanted to post some photos of an experiment that I did playing around with the theme of shadows and light and their co-existence.
The following set of photos feature a rather neat lamp that hubby bought for the new guest room downstairs. I thought it would be neat to take some photos only with the lamp's light. I quite like the results.
And just because Ariana never gets enough camera time... when she first sets out with Isabelle to find Mirelle Beaufort.
Ariana, two years later. This is the current version of Ariana.
Read all the profiles and loved them all :D!!! Are you going to publish the snippets? I would love to read them as well :D
ReplyDeleteI'm always impressed when I check your profiles page, I tend to forget how many dolls you have hahaha. They are all gorgeous, I'm hoping you can bring The lady home soon :D
Love your experiments with light and shadow, you got some great shots!
I was thinking of posting the snippets at some stage but I'd really like to take photos to go along with them. The difficulty is in some of the settings the snippets take place. Not sure how I could pull it off! I really need to start buying some of those vinyl backdrops some people use.
DeleteNow you know why I have a profile page, I sometimes forget how many dolls I have! Isn't that bad? I sometimes blank on their names too, the ones I don't tend to photograph as much although that doesn't happen so much with my bjds but with my other doll collections, I often do not remember who is who!
I think I got lucky with some of these hots. I had to contort myself for some of them to get the shots so I'm glad they made it worthwhile!!
To play with light and shadows, or even different filters are a lot of fun. There are so many things one can do with just simple changes. I think that you got some amazing shots! I really like them!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to visit your bjd page and get to know your resin family. They all are adorable in their own way. <3
Thank you! It's fun to try out different ideas although sometimes, they don't always work! I had to do this shoot twice because the first time, it didn't really come out the way I wanted.
DeleteI love the use of lighting in these first few photos. You've gotten some interesting effects there! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I love playing with lighting. It's just a shame I never get around to experimenting more!
DeleteIt's nice to give our more neglected dollies some photo time for sure~
ReplyDeleteI love your light experiments, I always find light can instantly change the mood of a photo!
Ariana doesn't really get too much camera time sadly. I'm not even sure why. One of those things that happens!
DeleteLucky hubby always buys such neat lamps for around the house to use.
