The After Party

It's always a little bittersweet when it's time to pull down the tree because it's at this moment you realise, another Christmas has come and gone and a new year has begun. Interspersed with this feeling is a little spark of excitement because it is a new year and at this point in time, you are excited to see what it has in store for you.

I actually took these photos late New Year's Eve but thought it was appropriate as a first post for 2017.

Time to take down the Christmas tree...

And those festive lights that always made the room look like magic.

Even if they do tend to get a little bit tangled.

Finally got everything packed away.

Well that was exhausting. See you again soon.

One last photo before I conclude this post.

I haven't finished Chiika's re-root yet but I've got a fair way through it. I'm plodding along with it whenever I get a chance to sit down for 3-4 hours without interruption. I have the middle bit to do next and I'm still deciding on whether she will get a fringe or not once it's done. So far though, I am really loving the pink against her skin and eyes.

  1. In some ways it is sad to start change the Christmas decorations to something more ordinary. The warm light and feeling disappear. I try to take it slow, so that during the last days of Christmas (around the 6th January) the most things are put away.

Chiika is looking cute as a button. The soft pink suits her well!

And I loved the photos <3

    1. It was strange, I wasn't looking forward to Christmas this year and it never quite felt like it. But then once people started pulling down the lights in their yard and around their house, I started to feel sad that it was over for another year. Strange how these things work!

I am itching to finish this re-root on Chiika already. Time seems to be getting away from me lately.

      Thank you!

  2. Those tiny lights are so cute1!! Super old style like cartoons of when I was little (I thought of the grinch immediately. stealing them hahaha). Love the photos, I feel like you've been telling more with your photos lately, I like it a lot! Wish I could do something like that.
Love how the rerooting is coming out, I like the hair parted like that, but a fringe would be nice too. The color suits her beautifully.

    1. Oh my gosh, you are so right. Now all I can see is the grinch, hehe.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm trying to inject a bit more of a story feel in my photos. I just wish I had more props to help it along more!

I think you already do that in your photos. I always get that fantasy sense whenever you post photos of your dolls. That they're existing in a world entirely separate from ours.

I can't wait to finish her re-root. This one has been taking so long because I haven't had a good straight 4 days just to sit and do it constantly. It's frustrating but can't be helped!

  3. Hi Alasse,
This was the first year for quite some time, that I actually had our tree down and put away by NY eve . . . I was so proud of myself!! LOL!

I agree with Alejandra, your story telling is improving with each photography session. Love the way the re-root is coming along, but then her hair is PINK and you know I love fantasy colours. :)
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. Me too Xanadu. We took ours down New Year's Eve in the afternoon. Took us 15 minutes! Compared to the 40mins it took to put up!

Thank you. The story telling is a lot easier with the smaller dolls than it is with the bigger dolls sadly, mostly due to lack of backdrops, props etc.

I was hoping to finish pink haired girl by the end of this weekend but I'm not sure if that will happen.

    1. Thanks. She's supposed to be the same face sculpt as Purple Top but her eyes are a lot bigger I found.

  5. It is a little sad to pack away the festive holiday goodies ;_; ~~

Starting the new year fresh and tidy is also a good feeling though x3

    1. It is a bit saddening because it's always an indicator that another year has sped past. But it's a new year and who knows what will happen!
