Over at IG, I decided to do the black and white challenge. The idea is that you take a photo a day over 7 days and post the photos without any explanation. It was a neat concept and I enjoyed the challenge of taking and posting up a photo a day. It wouldn't be something I would do all the time though as free time has been in short supply over this way recently.
I received some very lovely gifts from Xanadu recently and among them were these cute little dresses of which my two little Queens are modelling. I think they look adorable in them.
I've been waiting for a while now for my Bluefairy girl's wig which has taken almost a month to make. Even though I ordered only one wig. It's a little frustrating and reminds me of why I hardly buy things for my bjds anymore.
And of course, it'll take another month to get here once it ships if it doesn't get caught up and delayed in the Christmas rush. I actually wasn't aware it would be taking that long otherwise I might have looked elsewhere (with the order I also had some kips and new string for the girls that were in stock but obviously can't ship until the wig is done.)
I found this cute little crown ring at a local op shop and thought it would make a perfect crown for the yo-sd girls. I think she looks perfectly adorable with it on.
Speaking of bjds and wait times ... I actually have a mystery doll on order. I ordered my very first bjd grail from back in 2010. I mentioned this doll in a previous post about grails that got away. I actually contacted the company after I saw this particular doll show up on one of the company's dealer websites and queried about it as the doll is actually not on the company's website to order.
The company said they could produce this doll for me on special order and because they had an event running, I also qualified for a free yo-sd doll as well. I've never had a free doll when ordering another doll before. So this will be a completely new experience for me. (Incidentally, the free yo-sd doll I chose was one I had been eyeballing anyway since the beginning of the year).
My hubby is actually buying this doll for me for a Christmas present even though it probably won't be here for another 2-3 months. It's only been a day since I put the order in and I'm already antsy because I am so excited to be able to get this particular grail as it was the one I most regretted not getting at the time.
I have a rather vague idea of the character for the incoming doll but like all things, I'll just wing it and see where it leads me. I'll be guided by the sculpt like I normally am.
Enjoy the weekend! Only three more after this one until Christmas!
Hi Alasse,
ReplyDeleteNot a bad challenge to do either, not like those that last all year. I could even tackle this one sometime, but not before Christmas. :)
I'm pleased the dresses were the right size for your girls, they look very pretty in them.
Conrats on the new order and the added bonus. That was a bit of luck getting the free YoSD, I've never received a free doll, only unpainted face plates or heads. Seems you were in the right place at the right time.
Hugs,
X
I do like these shorter challenges, they are more doable for me than those really long ones too!
DeleteThe dresses you make are always so lovely. You have a good eye for fabric and styles!
I'm still smarting from the conversion to AUD though to be honest. Everything in USD is so expensive now. I miss the days when the conversion was more reasonable.
I really enjoyed the challenge and you shared beautiful photos. I like challenges and remember that I took one last year during September, I think, posting one photo a day. It was a bit hard, so 7 photos felt good this year!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the dresses you got from Xanadu, great gift! The girls look so pretty in them! And the crown fits perfect.
Exciting news with the new order and a gift doll too! Look forward to meeting the new ones, when they arrive!
Happy first Advent and enjoy the new week ahead!
Photo challenges are a lot of fun. I enjoy them plus it motivates me to participate!
DeleteXanadu always makes such lovely dresses. I wish I could sew that well!
At this stage, going from the chatter on the DOA forums, it seems like the wait time will be around 3 months - plus with New Year coming too, that might delay it by a week. I really dislike waiting for an order to come. It's I find one of the hardest part of this hobby but only because I have to outlay the total cost up front. If I could pay a deposit and the balance when it's ready to ship, I wouldn't be so antsy. I guess I've just been so spoiled with the fashion dolls working this way!
