I had plans to do a post on a few things but today ended up being one of those really lazy days in front of Netflix scoffing down easy to digest anime. I did end up taking some quick photos yesterday afternoon before all the light was gone after re-dressing a doll that I don't often take photos of.
Let me introduce Athena. I did have another name for her which I can't remember so I ended up giving her a new name and look. (Does that mean I have too many dolls if I can't remember all their names off the top of my head!!)
She is my 48cm Obitsu Mafuyu girl who has a custom face up by Ashley.
I had wanted a Dollfie Dream for a while but I wasn't sure how I felt about big vinyl dolls so I purchased this girl as a stepping stone to see whether I would like this type of doll or not. It turns that I do but I didn't want a huge amount of them. If anything, I might buy a Dollfie Dream or a Smart Doll one day and have a cut off of only two of these dolls in my collection. I'm in no hurry though as I want the resin dolls first.
Athena doesn't have a deep involved story like some of my other dolls. She's just a very optimistic and upbeat girl who likes to play the violin and is fascinated by Greek mythology. She's sixteen years old and her style is very much the Mori "Forest Girl" style. She likes particularly light, airy, fresh colours. She's definitely not a dark colour sort of girl. You won't find any black items of clothing in her wardrobe. She spends a lot of time roaming the nearby woods picking wildflowers and mushrooms. She loves making mushroom soup. She lives with her grandmother who is a soap maker. The village she calls home is a small, modest village with a population of about seventy people. The nearest big town is about a three day trip by horse. She also has a white cat that she calls 'Hercules'.
Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!
Well, memory remains elusive, that's why I make written bios of my doll characters even though I have just a few dolls. :) Athena is cute! I like her big green eyes. I wonder what would she look like with light brown wig. And I'm fond of mori style though it's hard to distinguish between mori and natural kei.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I do refer to my doll bios a lot! But then I'll just use the excuse that I'm getting old!
DeleteI'll have to look up natural kei. I think she would look nice with a light brown wig. This blonde one is nice but it's not really a good quality wig as bits are constantly falling out but I just haven't found a wig style I liked enough yet.
She's super cute :-). I also love what she's wearing. I have the same wit doll names, that's why I usually let them keep their original names. I hope you have a great weekend as well :-).
ReplyDeleteI've actually done that too with my Integrity dolls. Not all of them but most have kept their sculpt names. Except for the Monsieur Z dolls as they were only ever named things like, Global Babe, Fly Girl.
DeleteI wonder how would she look like with red hair... Her green eyes have wonderful tone. I love it.
ReplyDeleteRed hair and green eyes never go wrong I think. They're a great combination plus freckles, I love freckles on dolls. These are really nice eyes and I think I actually got them from Luts.
DeleteShe is really cute with her big, green eyes :). And I love her name - Athena was always my favourite Greek goddess. I would like to see her with Hercules ;).
ReplyDeleteI would like to see that too! Unfortunately I don't have a big cat at the moment at least not scaled for this size doll. Maybe one day. Hercules continues to live in my mind though!
DeleteI have a few favourites among the Greek Gods. Artemis is my favourite though. I'd love to model the Lady of the Forest off her.
Oh well, I do not remember all the doll's name either. "What's her/his name?" is very common here, for dolls and sometimes even for humans! :D
ReplyDeleteI like Athena, she is very pretty. I have had my eyes on some Smart Dolls, but have not ended up ordering one...yet. Need to think a bit more.
Congrats on getting her and I hope that you enjoy her!
Happy weekend!
That's me too with Smart Doll particularly as they cost a lot. I don't photograph this girl much at all though so maybe just the one is enough for me. I always feel tempted though when I see photos of those dolls from their owners.
