Modernist Eugenia Perrin-Frost

I recently received my 2018 W Club upgrade doll, Modernist Eugenia. Normally, I would do a traditional box opening for her but today, I decided to introduce her a little differently.

Eugenia's first impression of the  Estate was lukewarm at best. It had taken her the better part of three hours to find the location hidden away off the beaten track. Its seclusion was a point in its favour. She could do with a bit of peace and quiet after the last three months.

Neatly manicured fingers pressed down on the button for the intercom.

"Yes?" crackled a female voice from somewhere inside the building.

"My name is Eugenia Perrin-Frost. I believe I'm expected." she said smoothly. She caught the red blink of a camera in her vision and tilted her head towards it. There was the sound of a sharp, short buzz.

The door swung open and a young girl stood framed in the opening.

"I hope you didn't wait long! I'm a little out of breath. My name's Nadia." the girl smiled wide and stepped aside for her to enter.

The pastel hall was soothing on her eyes after the garish glare of the morning sun. The girl, Nadia took her one piece of luggage and led her further into the building.

"You should have phoned and we would have sent someone out to the airport to get you." the girl continued as they walked.

"It's fine. The drive out here gave me a chance to see the country side. I don't get out to places like this much."

"I'll bet. You must have such a busy life being a high profile model and all."

Eugenia said nothing. People always thought the model life was all about glamour and luxury and less about the constant pressures and long hours. She didn't think it was much point to correct the girl's misconception.

"Here we are. This is the sitting room. Everyone is welcome to use it. We also have some books and magazines in the shelf behind me. I've also set out some tea and coffee so help yourself. "

The room was understated but elegant, not overly styled. Simple. She liked simple. Already, she felt the eight hours on the plane start to slide off her. Her shoulders relaxed. Just a little. Maybe being here wouldn't be all bad. Maybe her agent actually knew what she was talking about.

"I'll go and let Elyse know you're here. I'm sure she'll want to meet you in person and just go over some paperwork and some rules for your stay here. It's really great to have you here. Make yourself at home."

She opened her mouth to thank the girl for her assistance but she had already left, the door closing softly behind her.

Eugenia took a deep breath, slipped the sunglasses onto her head and took a closer look around the space. She spied several romance paperbacks in the book shelf. She couldn't help the small smile that tugged at her lips. Someone sure liked to dream.

Further investigation revealed some old texts in latin and some magazines that she might borrow later. So far, the atmosphere of the place was quite calm, quite constant, not at all like the rush and bustle of her life in the city. Even time seemed to move slower here marching at its own pace. Despite her initial trepidation, she was starting to find herself taken with the charm of the country side.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening. A woman entered, dressed in a simple black dress. Gold and black jewellery adorned her neck and arm. Her hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail leaving her face exposed.

She gave Eugenia a welcoming smile. The expression warmed her face and lit up her eyes.

"Hello Eugenia. Welcome to Ivywood. My name is Elyse. Let's adjourn to my study."

 Several hours later ...

The sound of Orinoco Flow by Enya fills the sitting room. The chair and tables have been pushed back against the walls clearing a space in the middle of the room where Jordan calmly goes through her afternoon Yoga routine.

"Breath in through the nose and expel through the mouth." she whispers.

The door opens and shuts loudly.

"Jordan, have you-"

She holds up a finger to stall the intruder. She completes the routine, clasps her hands together and lowers her head holding the pose for several minutes. Finally, she raises her head and looks over to where Nadia stands impatiently.

"You know it's rude to interrupt a routine Nadia." she says to the girl.

"I'm sorry Jordan. I forgot."

"You're here now. What was so urgent you had to barge in here like the nine hells were chasing you?"

Nadia ducks her head for a second in embarrassment. "I just wanted to tell you about the new girl."

Jordan hid a smile. The girl always got overly excited when new faces turned up at Ivywood.

"Go on, what about the new girl?"

She listens attentively as Nadia tells her of the morning visit...

* F I N I T O *

Okay so I did initially have a story for my Integrity dolls but ... it got too complicated and I decided to bin it and just start giving them personalities rather than storylines. This is the result. I have no idea what the story is yet. I feel like this is more a slice of life sort of reality for the dolls. All I knew was that all the dolls lived together in one massive estate owned and run by Elyse with a few helpers. Their goal was to simply help people by providing a safe place for them to get away from the world and just get some time out, relax, be in the now. Even get a little spiritual too if they want.

So literally, I am writing this as I go and nothing is planned. I am just going to see where this all leads. Totally organic.

  1. Fantastic! I love this! First of all, your new girl is stunning, and she wears a fabulous outfit. The environment you created for the ladies is awesome, I was totally there and if I was smaller I would come over there and stay a while lol!

    1. It took me a while honestly to warm up to her but after that, it was all good. She has a gorgeous skin tone and I do love her outfit a lot. It's refreshing for me to write just slice of life stuff for a change!

  2. It was a great idea to turn the welcoming of a new girl into a story. I'm sure Eugenia will be pleased with her life in a new place and she will make friends with everybody. But isn't Orinoco Flow too cheerful for yoga? ;) I would choose Angeles or On Your Shore. I can't wait to read another part of your Integrity doll story! By the way, have you seen Janay Legacy from Lovesick Collection? I think I'll add her to my wishlist. :)

    1. I love Orinoco Flow, admittedly why I chose it. I will have to look up those others as it's been a good long while since I've listened to the artist!

Oh yes, I have seen Janay from the Lovesick Collection. I love her funky outfit. Luckily, that line isn't selling so well right now so I'm sure she will linger around at the dealers for a while. I'm seriously debating getting her myself but I know the second half of the year will no doubt bring more dolls so I have to be smart with my budget as it's my last year with W Club. I will stop collecting more of these dolls after this year.

I have Devotion Agnes on pre-order. I couldn't pass her up when I saw her. The whole look from head to toe was too much to resist!

  3. I love the way you introduced her! Great idea.

And I think this diorama is wonderful. I like interiors like that. I would love to stay in place like this.

All the girls are really intresting. I'm waiting for the next episode. :)

    1. I love interiors like this too. I build a lot of my Sims 4 homes with similar themes. Best part of the game in my humble opinion.

I need to get more stuff for the diorama though. It's just slow going because surprisingly, 1/6 furniture is not cheap!

    1. I just need to build a study diorama first before the next part. I'm still debating how I will go about that and what furniture I need.

  5. Besides me not being a famous model and the polka dot walls, the beginning reminded me a lot of my own travels.
Your new girl is stunning and I like the new dynamic.
Glad to see you still post regularly.

    1. Hello! Great to see you around. I've missed your blog posts.

I sometimes feel like I post way too much! Sadly I didn't get a chance to work on my dolls during my holidays. I'm back to work tomorrow :-(

I really got to stop buying new dolls though. I'm cutting myself off after this year so I can save after our big renovation to the house recently. But yeah, I really enjoy the doll hobby and it's getting me back into writing stories again which is always a good thing! Next I just need to learn how to make my own 1/6 scale furniture!

  6. Well, Eugenia has something mysterious about her. It will be interesting to read more about her!

    Have a great new week!

    1. She is a lot more beautiful in person than in photos. I really am glad I went with my gut and got her. She definitely doesn't disappoint and it's always great when you can clearly hear a character's 'voice'.
