When Xanadu told me of the phone box at Bunnings, I hadn't thought to use it for my fashion dolls but I realised it was a perfect size for my Nendoroid and Cu-poche figures (and Figma). So I got it and painted it blue. It's almost a Tardis because it's not an exact replica.
And shown with a Nendoroid who just stepped out of the Tardis into some unknown wilderness that is my side garden ... sort of.
I also finished putting together a sofa (also suggested by Xanadu on her blog). I haven't done the upholstery yet. I was very much inspired by the scrapbook paper you can see in the backdrop. It's currently just blu-taked onto the wall as I am still working on the actual diorama that this sofa will end up in. I am planning that scrapbook paper along with wooden features at the bottom for the walls, this sofa, a coffee table, a bookshelf and a rug. Maybe a fireplace too. It's going to be a comfortable room to relax in with a very tropical slant.
Pictured here with a Barbie. The sofa kinda looks huge for her!
With one of the Integrity girls. I think this size looks good for them as they are taller than Barbie.
Thanks Xanadu for recommending these DIY Furniture pieces. I really enjoyed putting this one together. I'm about to pop on to the website to order my next few pieces!
I also have the dressing table but it's not done yet. I will make a new diorama also to house the dressing table and a wardrobe. Plus small dioramas for my figure collection is coming this year to the blog.
Weekends go so fast! Back to work for me tomorrow. I'll be counting the minutes until my finish time so I can come home to work on my diorama.
Hey it turned out really well Alasse, I really love the colour you chose to go with the wallpaper, as you said, it's very tropical. :) I can also see you picking out the other colours (like the lime and lavender) to highlight with cushions and accessories, or even using white as a complete contrast, either way I know it will look absolutely fabulous when it's all done.
ReplyDeleteNot so keen on the fireplace for this setting, but some plantation shutters would look great and keep it all in the tropical vibe. Now I can hardly wait to see what you do with the dressing table and wardrobe. :)
Big hugs,
X
Sorry about the deleted comments, but I forgot to mention the "Tardis" it certainly looks like one as long you don't put it beside the real thing. I love it! Now I think I may have to go back to Bunnings.
The strange thing was, I didn't know what colour to paint my dresser when I started but then somehow, it ended up a lavender colour and I wasn't even thinking to match it with the scrapbook paper!!
DeleteFunny you should mention plantation shutters. I was thinking about how I could do something similar the other day!
If you didn't know what an actual Tardis looks like, this one could happily pass as one. I have already made Tardises so it's nice to have one handmade! I should call it an "Ode to the Tardis."
It's always nice to see some ordinary store stuff used as doll props. You have great ideas and I'm looking forward to see your diorama. I don't think the sofa is too big for Barbie. I would just add some pillows with golden tassels for the contrast.
ReplyDeleteIt's not too big of a deal if it doesn't work for Barbie as it's meant for my FR dolls anyway. They always get the good stuff. Poor Barbie. But yes, it needs some cushions definitely.
DeleteWhen I saw this phone box on Xanadu's blog, I though the same thing - "It's almost the Tardis" :)! And it works fantastic - too bad it will be a bit too small for your Doctor Who doll ;)... but for nendoroids it's absolutely perfect. I love the colour of your sofa and the wallpaper - can't wait to see the whole diorama!
ReplyDeleteAlthough ..... I have Doctor Who figures so ...on the weekend I might try taking a photo of the Almost Tardis with one of the figures for size comparison.
DeleteWhen I decorate my Sim houses, the furniture tends to have these bright fresh colours. I guess it's what I wish my house could be if I didn't have a partner who preferred everything in neutral colours!
Little Nendoroid looks super cute with the phone box.
ReplyDeleteI love the scrapbook paper on the walls of your future diorama is beautiful and can really inspire the whole room.
I agree with Nana that the sofa will be perfect size for Barbie doll if you add some pillows and blanket. Can't wait to see your diorama finished :)
I just happened to pick that paper up at the local craft store and really loved it. My weakness is pretty scrapbook paper.
DeleteI hope I can finish the sofa this weekend but I will see if I can find all the right fabrics.
The phone box is just perfect for your Nendoroid!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sofa looks amazing with the tropical backdrop.
Look forward to seeing the diorama!
Enjoy your new week!
I need more stuff for the Nendoroid, they get so neglected!
DeleteIt's still going to be a while before the diorama is finished. I'm taking it slow and steady with this one. I love tropical themes. It makes me think of bringing the outdoors in.
I really like the shape of that sofa!
ReplyDeleteAre there photos of the almost-tardis with some Doctor Who figures in the future maybe? :)
There will most certainly be photos of Almost-Tardis with Doctor Who figures. I have a few - ahem. Except for Capaldi. Because he wasn't my most favourite Doctor.
DeleteI LOVE the colors of your new diorama!!! I made a yellow one with a blue sofa last year but I didn't like the yellow tone of the walls so I scrapped it off, need to restart it, cuz it was looking real nice.
ReplyDeleteI also love your tardis and nendo photo!
Dioramas can always be changed and added to. I would love to see yours. The yellow and blue scheme sounds nice, bright and cheery. I hope you will be able to restart it!
DeleteI don't know why I like the tropical theme at the moment. Maybe it's the current heat here!!
These are great, you really have been busy! I think Xanadu is a bad influence on us all, getting us to spend money and fill our time with crafts! ;) LOL
ReplyDeleteI do love it though when people share their projects and where they get their supplies from, it is really helpful!
xx
Oh yes, Xanadu is definitely an influence when it comes to feeling inspired to craft. She's just always so creative and productive! Plus she finds the most awesome things for dolls.
DeleteI had a lot of fun with this project. I hadn't done anything for quite a while as I was in an unmotivated slump so this was a good kickstart to the creative engine.
