From what I managed to find out, not all Tyler Wentworth dolls had the bendable arms, the original didn't but they released her later with this feature. I'm guessing that's what the BA stands for. There is another Signature Style series of her without the bending arms. Obviously I wanted to make sure the one I was buying did have the BA feature. Sadly, she does not have articulated wrists or feet but that's not a huge deal breaker for me.
I really find her face quite sweet and I wouldn't mind a few more but recent issues make me hesitate quite a great deal. If you remember from previous posts, I have two other Tonner dolls, Galadriel and a Precarious. Whilst rearranging my doll cabinets a week ago, I noticed that both Galadriel and Precarious heads had a slight green look to them that wasn't there when they first arrived. Now, I don't know if this was because they were previously kept in boxes (although Galadriel was kept in a doll cabinet much like mine) and now they are exposed to the air, there might some sort of reaction like resin, except happening at a much faster rate. I am careful with my more expensive dolls to keep them stored in a cabinet on the darkest shelf so they don't get a lot of light shining on them. Heck, my BJD cabinet only houses BJDs as I cover the cabinet with a big white sheet to protect it from light.
I asked about the issue on a Tonner Group I joined but no one else had experienced this issue with their dolls so ...either, the light when it's on downstairs has reacted with the vinyl (although the same light has been there since I started collecting BJDs and my resin dolls are fine, save for the natural yellowing that occurs with resin (but at a much much slower rate - we're talking over years) or they both happened to be a bad batch when it was first made several years ago. Obviously I can always fix the colour in photos in my editing program but ... it has made me a bit hesitate to get further Tonner dolls at this stage.
Anyway, on to the photos ...
In her box. The seller said she had never been removed other than for sales photos. She was in pretty good condition and I did buy her at a good price.
Her shoes do have a little wear and tear on them but they're still usable. I adore this outfit. It's chic but simple and elegant. She even has gorgeous pearl necklace and matching earrings.
Her profile is really nice. Understated. I adore her face up too. It's not too over the top, subtle and soft. I love her hairstyle as well.
Overall I am quite pleased with this doll. She seems the same height as Precarious maybe slightly taller but she is smaller than Galadriel. I don't think Galadriel is a 16 inch doll for some reason. These dolls are quite beautiful and I will have to see how Tyler goes before I throw more money at this line.
In other news, I recently saw the new upcoming MomokoDoll release set for April 2019. 'My Deer Friend' Momoko. I really love her outfit, the little deer headband and the hair colour. I'm lukewarm about the face but that can always be changed. I swore after 'Escape Flight' Momoko (which incidentally still does not have a release date), I would not be getting more Momoko girls but it just goes to show that you should never make declarations you cannot keep! If they keep releasing interesting dolls like this, how am I going to not be tempted?
Have a great week everyone!
Very pretty! I like how charmingly and deceptively simple her outfit and face are. Congratulations on bringing her home (and especially at a good price)! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've every heard of non-resin dolls greening before! I have most of my dolls in storage now, so I'm hoping that won't be waiting for me when I eventually move and unbox them. :o
I have heard of very early Barbie heads sometimes going a weird colour (a few in the Dolls of the World line I've seen, the head yellows to an extent it no longer matches the body) but I hadn't heard this with Tonner dolls. I have heard sometimes jewellery can turn the ears a bit green but I've removed Galadriel's crown when displaying her as apparently that is a culprit too. It's just really really strange.
DeleteThe new Tonner girl is really lovely, she looks like an elegant office lady in that outfit. :) Hm, that greenish colour may be caused by humidity. And I've read about a fungi that live on vinyl. I hope it doesn't get worse.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the flood? Is the water level falling? I hope you're safe. Take care.
Well, if it's humidity, I do know we had a week of really hot humid days before Christmas and where I am is generally humid anyway although downstairs where the cabinets are, it is much cooler than upstairs. The strange thing is, I have had my bjds, my oldest being a bit over 10 years old and other than normal yellowing, there hasn't been any other issues, not even greening. The fungi I hadn't heard about though. I will have to look into that a bit more.
DeleteWater level is receding and there was no rain yesterday and even a bit of sun but torrential rain and winds again today. They're saying the system should be heading back out to sea on Friday taking the rain with it. Some places will take a lot longer than others for the flood water to go down. We are safe. Thank you. I have to be back at work next Monday so I hope roads will be open again.
She looks so classy and poised!!!I think I'm in love! She needs her own office and servants, I mean employees xD!
ReplyDeleteAh I love her look, too bad you are having trouble with Tonner's skin color, that is weird indeed. Did you try cleaning the face with a wet towel? it probably won't do anything but it's worth trying, maybe they just happened to be too close to something green ?_? but I guess you'd remember if they fell into the grass or something (when I had a supia rosy she fell onto the grass when I was taking her photos and her nose turned green, had to wipe it out, face up and all). What a mistery!
I was VERY surprised at the new announced Momoko doll, quite different of any other one they have ever released! I don't like her face, too much eyeliner (maybe to look more deer like), so I'm safe. Same as you, love the outfit and extras, but I'm gonna pass.
I am going to keep a close eye on her head to see if it also starts to discolour. So far, she's still looking good but it's only been about 2-3 weeks since she came to me.
DeletePrecarious I haven't had outside at all yet. Galadriel when she first arrived, I took a few photos out in the garden but had back in her cabinet within 30 minutes and she was outside for less than 10 minutes. I will try to wipe her face with a wet towel though and see if that helps.
I wish they sold the Momoko outfit separately. I'm tempted but the face just isn't really appealing to me and I've made a rule to only buy a Momoko if I like the full package including the face!
Congratulations! She is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of the problem with green colour in Tonner dolls. I hope it won't get worse...
Me too. I will keep a close eye on it. I really love this Tyler. She has a really sweet face.
DeleteHi Alasse,
ReplyDeleteI really like her, she has a beautiful face and a wonderful profile. I don't think she will disappoint you, and will certainly fit in well with your crew. I also like the new Momoko, but I am not about to buy one. :)
Big hugs,
X
Her face just looks so soft. I get why people love their Tyler dolls so much now. Add me to that group! I would really love to get at least one more of her in a different hair colour. There's a redhead Tyler on ebay at the moment but she has the straight arms and not the bendable arms which is a shame. She looks to have never been removed from her box as her sales photos are of her in the box still, all tied up with the ribbons.
DeleteI don't feel the new Momokos really compare well to the older ones. I have one Momoko that was made in 2009 and the others are more recent. My 2009 Momoko is my favourite. She also feels more ... solid. It's hard to describe unless you hold an old one and a new one in your hands. I will have to compare them one day.
Congrats, she looks so elegant and calm. I love her delicat make up. I hope she will not change her color like other dolls.
ReplyDeleteShe has a really nice gentle face which I adore quite a lot. I really wish I could buy more of her.
DeleteCongrats, she is a beauty! I really like the last photo of her. There is something calm about her.
ReplyDeleteHave not heard about vinyl dolls getting a hint of green color like that. Not a fun thing to experience and I hope that it will not get any worse, like Hulk level. Probably not, but anyway...
So, a new Momoko - need to check that out!
I don't think it will get as bad as Hulk but it's noticeable to me but then again, I can be a bit nitpicky with my dolls. Hubby reckons it's just my eyes as he doesn't see anything wrong with the doll so I will have to look at it when there is natural light.
DeleteHi Alasse
ReplyDeleteI really like your new girl, she's very pretty and has an understated elegance. And yes her profile is really pretty.
I also like the Momoko with her deer headband and lovely outfit, but I won't get one because I don't like the joints too much, I always worry that they'll break as they look a little fragile. I look forward to seeing yours though, if you decide to get her :)
xx
This particular Tyler has a really lovely face and I like that her make up is so subtle too. Momoko bodies are fragile. I have to remember to be careful when I play with the joints. I'm still not sure yet if I will get her or not. All that orange on her make up is a bit off putting to me but it may not be as in your face in person.
