All About Braids

I recently discovered a shop on Etsy, White Bambina, that sell some things for Barbie. It's really hard to find handmade clothing for Barbie so I was quite excited to find someone who does. This time, I only purchased two shirts but I plan to get more from the shop later on.

Gabriella models the first shirt, obviously I had to get this one. It's The Sims, a definite no brainer for me! She is playing with a new pet I picked up last night from a local store. I believe it's a cat.

Jasmine models the second shirt, of course it has to be mermaids. I love mermaids. Although I am drawn more to their darker counterpart, the sirens.

Both shirts are well made, they do have velcro but that doesn't bother me. They also fit great on my MTM girls.

I finally finished Jasmine's braids and trimmed her fringe a little. I love them. I think they turned out great. I was inspired to do the braids from Froggy's video. I've always wanted to do them, I just never knew what to use to fasten them with because everything I had was too big but I like this method of not fastening them.

And I enjoyed doing Jasmine's hair so much that I decided to do the same for Syn's hair. It suits her because she actually is a rock star.

It's finally the weekend again! Hope everyone has a good one!

  1. Very nice clothes! I love the one with mermaid tail. :)
I think the only thing to fasten the braids that will be in scale is a thin thread.

    1. I love Mermaids so I had to get that one.

I agree, thin thread would do the trick but I will see how not fastening them goes. I did have one tiny braid that I did months and months ago and never fasten and it never fell out so we'll see.

  2. Both girls now have lovely plaits, you've done a great job on them. I like the tee shirts, I have this very pattern and it's a nice pattern to work with. I like the mermaid tail one best I think....and they look really good on both girls.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. It took a while for the braids but it was quite relaxing for me. I think that's why I also enjoy re-rooting doll heads as well. That sort of task I don't really need to think too much so I can watch movies while I'm doing it.

I should really try to sew more clothes myself but because I handsew things take forever and sometimes I'm just too impatient. I'm also on the lookout for people who sew for Barbie, especially the MTM bodies which I have.

    1. The tiny braids look good on any Barbie. It's quite amazing really. I just have to refrain from braiding all their hair!! I don't want them to all have the same hairstyle!

Shirts fit great. I like finding new clothes for Barbie. They have a bigger wardrobe than I do now!

  4. Those braids are really cool. And it's great you found such nice clothes. Hm, it's a bit hard to say what the pet really is. It's something between a cat and shiba inu puppy. ;)

    1. The pet is a really strange one. I should get more. There was one of it lying down too. It's so cute though.

Braids were really fun to do and I have to resist doing it on my other dolls now!

  5. Lovely shirts! Visited her shop and saw one shirt with Marilyn Monroe on! So cool!
And those braids look great! I tried on my Ever After High Madeline Hatter (saw the Froggy's video) and I do not know if I can do this. Maybe with an audio book as a company, though! :D

    1. I saw that Marilyn one. Was totally tempted.

You can do it! The braids are well worth the effort. I'd love if you could post a photo when you're done. I am sure Madeline would look great in braids.

  6. Loving the rbaids and the mermaid shirt!! Every time I see your pink and lilac hair colores barbies I'm reminded how I still don't have any doll with fantasy pastel hair lmao XD

    1. The braids were a lot of fun to do. Too addictive though, for me! I actually have a hairless Pureneemo right now who has been waiting over a year for a pink wig that I keep meaning to make but never get around to. I'm debating getting rid of her factory face and trying to repaint her in my own style.

Oh Japanese puppies huh? I googled them. Whatever the pet I got was, it's cute as heck and I hope the store stocks more!

Little kitty (which looks like a puppy) is super cute.
I'm really impressed with all this braids. You are so patient :)

    1. Which is strange as I'm not normally that patient! I do love how the braids turned out. I'm glad all the man hours it took was worth it in the end.

    1. I can't believe I did a second doll with braids right after I finished the first ones! Honestly, I must be a bit crazy! I do love them though. I kind of want braids in my hair now!
