My First Fashion ...Frankendoll?

I really need to stay off E-Bay! One of the regular sellers I buy from had a neat little head for sale that I had been curious about. It was a rather realistic looking head meant for an action body, kind of similar to those Hot Toys bodies. I wasn't too fussed on the original body these heads are meant for. So I did a bit of research and found that a fashion doll collector had tried one of these heads on a Integrity body.

The head is made by a company called Superduck. I couldn't really find much information on them as they don't seem that popular. The heads are smaller than Barbie heads and are very realistically painted. I think some are based on actual celebrities but I believe this head is a standard "European" sculpt. Hobbysearch and Amiami sell these heads. (They usually retail for $80 AUD approx. I got it for $25AUD!)

The heads remind me of how Dollshe heads are in that their face juts out a bit. I had to kind of wriggle her head as far back as I could to make her match with the neck. It did come with a neck plug thing that I had to remove in order to be able to fit this on an IT body.

The body I am using for her is a Poppy Parker body in FR White. (aka the IT Airways Poppy that I never really got along with is now a floating head! I may put her on a Nu Face body once IT get more in stock and hopefully in FR White!)

On to the eye candy goodness ...

She is wearing IT faux leather pants and Barbie top and jacket. Her hair is rooted and feels quite nice although the rooting isn't all that thick but you can kind of hide it.

I really love how she turned out. I may try one more with another head sculpt and body type. It depends as the heads aren't that easy to get.

I'm naming her Jade. I'm not sure who she is yet but I'm really leaning towards international spy with an arsenal of deadly skills.

  1. She looks great mate! And a bargain to boot, how fabulous. :) I really like her face-up Alasse, it's really soft and natural, quite realistic looking. The Barbie leopard jacket with the black leather look pants is perfect for today's fashion conscious doll and very appropriate for an international spy too. Congratulations on a job well done.
Love all the photos and that backdrop is divine . . . is that a new room?
    Big hugs,

    1. I know right? I love me those bargains! I do too, even though she has no lashes I don't think she needs them and I kinda think they would overwhelm those teeny tiny eyes if she did have them. I've always wanted a fashion doll like this so I am glad I can have one (plus you know as much as I adore the Iplehouse FIDs and as much as I want one, I can't really afford those in this current currency climate of ours!) Honestly, I still can't believe that jacket is a Barbie jacket. It is so well made.

The 'Cityscape' room with brick walls is one I've had for ages. I made it a while back and it doesn't work as well with the IT girls as it does with Momoko. The other backdrop (the more tropical one) started out as a backdrop for the IT girls but ... it's kind of bigger than I expected and now it works a treat for the MSD size dolls. I also have an opposite wall with a window I cut into the foam board. All I need to do is pin these two walls together, add a floor, and presto, instant diorama room with a tropical theme!

  2. Jade is gorgeous! Totally looks like a model and now I see her better so yes, she's Linda's lookalike. :) A modern Mata Hari - that sounds fascinating. She really does look like femme fatale. ;)

    1. I would love to get another head to hybrid to be her enemy / competitor in the field but I'm having a hard time as most of the ones I want are sold out at the trusted retailers I use.

She is a great model. I really like this body/head combination. I'd love to try one though on a taller IT body (hence the second head).

    1. I can't believe her head is even tinier than Barbie heads and I always thought Barbie heads were small! Hats off to the people who paint these heads. They must have super steady hands and excellent eye sight!

    2. That's true. It's painted very well. :)

  4. She's lovely and what a great combination of head and body. The face reminds me a little bit of an Iplehouse doll, the features are nice, very natural. And I like how you're styling her too.

    1. I thought the same thing about her resemblance to Iplehouse. I am really liking her naturalness as you said. She actually reminds me a little of a game character ... Jill Valentine from Resident Evil.

  5. She is such a beauty! The face-up is stunningly realistic, and the body fits her perfectly. I simply adore the last photo... She may resemble Jill, but when it comes to character, I see her more like Ada Wong ;)...

    1. I have to look up Ada Wong! She is a very realistic looking doll, on par with my bjds I think. Her size does make her so easy to handle though and very lightweight!
