...and he's here! My boy has arrived after what seems like a world trip! It's taken a few weeks but he arrived to me safe and sound and stealing my heart with his smouldering look.
The lady who got my parcel received the parcel I got (meant for her) safely so all's well that ends well. The mixed order saga has concluded. I can't say enough about how great the customer service and support was from Alice Collection during this situation. I'm thoroughly impressed. I won't hesitate to order from them again even after the mix up as it really wasn't their fault but the courier who collected the parcels and mixed up the custom forms (despite our names, the customer names being written on the underside of the box. It isn't hard to double check right?)
Moving on ...
Let me introduce Ruben Morgan. He doesn't know it but he actually died when he was ten years old. He was out for 7 seconds but it was enough. Something came back with him, something that has attached itself to Ruben, whether good or ill remains to be seen.
Ruben is the lead guitarist and songwriter of Reckless, a band that is comprised of ... a man who died and came back, a survivor of a virus who is forced to an existence akin to a 'vampiric-esque' life and a woman whose great ancestor was the first Siren to forsake her immortality to live a human life. Now that's a strange bunch of musicians if I ever saw one. But let's focus on Ruben. It's his time in the spotlight.
I'm very happy that he's here finally. Well worth the wait. The company face up is gorgeous, actually looks more like a custom face up than a company one!! I'm glad I ordered him when I did as it seems like he's been discontinued by the company. Unless you can still special order him. Not sure.
I'm still working on his backstory but I'm definitely going with the supernatural angle for him.

I am waiting to get some green eyes with smaller irises to arrive. I like these on him but find the iris just a bit big for what I was wanting. This boy is going to get new clothes over the next few months. A lot of what I have currently just isn't suited to the style I have in mind for him.

I'm so happy that he finally came in safely <3 he is a really handsome guy :) I think his face up is gorgeous and definitely didn't look like company make up and his eyes are magical <3 Can't wait to know rest of his story :)
ReplyDeleteI am quite relieved to have him here finally. It always makes me nervous when I order dolls and I have to admit, I have heard stories about mixed orders in this hobby over the years but never thought it would happen to me but there you go. It was an ... experience.
DeleteOh Chari, he was definitely worth waiting for, he's very handsome and so boyish. Too many of the BJD males are quite effeminate. I agree with you regarding his faceup, it really well done. I bet you are over the moon with him. :)

I think that's what tempted me about him, that handsome boyish vibe he has going on. I don't think the company is very popular at least among Westerners. I don't see a lot of people with their dolls which makes finding photos of them hard when you're trying to research about the sculpt!!

I just need to figure out about the girl in the band. I've been debating pulling Astrid from the Fantasy story and making her the girl in the band or alternatively exploring possible new floating heads that could share that body ... it's a tough one.

He smoulders a lot and it suits his character. I was looking for a certain style/appearance when I was looking for him and he fits so perfectly. I lucked out!

ReplyDeleteA strange switch like this happened to me once when I ordered a calendar for the girls and two orders got mixed. We got French sightseeings and an older mister got One Direction (boy band). Through the company, we made a switch back.
It's always a bit of a surprise when this happens and then the whole uncertainty of whether the item will get lost in the mail en route - just a bit nerve wrecking and stressful but it all ended well and I discovered a new face up artist to boot (the lady that got my head). So it all worked out pretty great!
