I initially took a few photos of a doll to use today but, I just wasn't feeling it. Everything I tried just didn't really excite me so I ended up using a photo I had taken previously that I liked. I felt much better about the results.
I used my Popodoll Bomu, a very much underrated doll in my humble opinion. I actually don't know of anyone else who has him other than me. It's sad because he has a really lovely face.
I went with a theme that revolved around my BJD storyline set in the Borderlands. I didn't want to do a ton of manipulation to the photo, just enhanced bits here and there. I wanted to keep it as 95% original photo and 5% enhancement added.
The last one I did was back in 2016. You can see the entry here. That one was heavily manipulated.
I had a lot of fun with this one (thank you Xanadu!) and will probably make a few more. I love this sort of thing.
EDIT: Well, I ended up doing a more Halloween themed one as well. I used an older manipulation of my Impldoll Christopher girl. The original manipulation I did of this photo is at my DA site here.
Have yourselves a great weekend!
Both are amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really enjoy doing this type of thing. I kind of wish I had known that years ago when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life.
DeleteI love BJD covers! It's fun making them.
ReplyDeleteBoth are great but somehow I like the first one more.
I think so. I really enjoy this sort of thing. It's just light and fun and lets you massage the creative muse. I feel like the first cover is more realistic and I can totally see it as a real magazine compared to the second which is more fantastical in nature.
DeleteThese two look great, more pure compared to the one in 2016. I like them both!
ReplyDeleteI feel like they look better than my last one from 2016. At the time, I was really happy with the 2016 cover but looking back now, I feel like it is a bit forced compared to the more natural vibe from the ones from this year. I know I could have done a much better job with the manipulation aspects of the 2016 cover but I do remember that one frustrated me a lot during the process. Whereas these two was just a lot of fun for me to put together.
DeleteXanadu comes up with some great memes!
I love both! Fantastic work, with the photos and with the titles as well :). The one from 2016 is nice too, but newer editions are much better :)
ReplyDeleteI really do like the newer ones better, just because they do look so much more natural and the older one I feel looks a bit artificial but that could just be because of my lacklustre blending skills!
DeleteWOW! These turned out really well Alasse, I love them both (perhaps the second one a little more) and I'm so glad you had fun and enjoyed designing them. It's also funny how when we look back and can see the difference in our work, whether it be our photography, our story telling or simply a meme like this, how much more positive we feel about our achievements.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
X
Thank you for getting us to participate in this meme! It was so much fun. I really enjoyed it and it reminded me of how much I enjoy doing this sort of thing. And you are so right. Looking back and seeing improvements definitely makes you feel like you've achieved something by improving yourself. I do need to learn how to use my camera properly though!
DeleteTwo great covers, they've turned out very well.
ReplyDeleteThe Halloween one in particular is very clever, and quite atmospheric too :)

I didn't intend to do a Halloween one but when I was looking for a photo to use for the first cover, I saw the photo on the second cover and thought it would fit the Halloween theme perfectly.
DeleteWOW, both covers are great <3
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see yours if you decide to participate in this meme!
