Snapshots of Moments

Decided to do a photo day today after I tidied up my craft room in the morning. I wanted to experiment with some ideas I had for photos.

Fun With Frames

I have an old photo frame that I wanted to use as a prop. I've done this before with an old Resinsoul Mei a few years back.

Black 'n' White

A series of self portraits of one of my dolls.

The Sum of Us

Experimenting with couple shots.

The Random Ones

This might have worked better if this doll had a MTM body. I was trying to do the poise pose with balancing a book on top of the head.

Syn got a tattoo! Okay, it was one of those temporary tattoos. I stuck it on her back the same way as you would on a human. Once it dried from being damp, I painted some sealer over it to protect it from scratching or fading. I've been wanting to try this for ages but kept forgetting I had these. When I cleaned up my craft room this morning, I found them again and thought, why not. I really like how it turned out. I wonder if the same thing could work on resin...

That's it for today. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

  1. That was fun for sure! :) I love all the photos you took. Especially the platinum haired girl and the couple with lights.
You should make sessions like this more often. xD

    1. I like sessions like this with very simple backgrounds so the subject has a chance to shine without too much other background stuff getting in the way.

  2. Great ideas for photos! Especially the black & white series. I also like those tiny Christmas lights. :) And that tattoo really suits the blonde girl. She's a rebel. ;)

    1. The lights were such a pain. I had to get my husband to press down on the switch as it seems to be broken and won't light up anymore unless you put pressure on it. It turned out well though which is great but I think I will be looking for a new set of tiny lights. I find portrait series work so well with the Barbie size.

  3. Great tattoo (and the idea for it ;))! Awww, I love the white haired Fashionista, but I never saw her in our shops without flaws in faceup (and not something minor, but regular esotropia). Yours is perfect!
Now I'm definitely waiting for more couple photos - the beginning is very promising ;)!

    1. We didn't have that girl here either. It was just by chance that I saw her at one of the local places before it closed down. She was the only one there so I grabbed her and she was on sale which was even better. We seem to be getting less and less of the Mattel dolls locally these days. I usually have to order or buy from ebay if I want one. Not ideal.

I really want to try and start photographing dolls together so I've been practicing with my camera.

Love the close up of the couple!

    1. I think I saw someone do something similar on a blog or something and I thought it looked worth trying. The tattoo is looking great too. Just have to find more that are smaller in size to fit well. Although this size would probably work on resin too.

  5. These are great photos, you are very imaginative. I like the tattoo and would think that it would also work on resin too.
I love the first of the 'couples' photos, she looks like she's not really that keen on being seen with him...perhaps she's not that happy with all the attention he gets from the groupies when he's with the other guys!! :)

    1. You have a good eye! She definitely isn't keen given how some groupies treat their idols supposed other halves!! I find couple photos for this size is way easier than my big resin dolls.

  6. Having a few problems posting comments here today, hope this one works! GRRR!

Don't know how I missed this one Alasse, probably because I am not used to seeing two posts from you so close together, and Sunday was a wipeout! The photos are great, I especially like the use of the frames in the first set, they are different and are very effective in an abstract way. The couples look cute, and I like the idea of using the fake tattoos on dolls, and I see no reason why they wouldn't work on resin too. :)
    Big hugs,

    1. I had that issue on someone else's blog a few weeks ago. Wonder what's going on.

I've been feeling really inspired lately so had to make the most of it. I really liked the different themes in these particular shoots. I'd like to do a bit more with it, maybe take my couple outside and do some shoots out there. That old photo frame has come in so handy!
