You've already read about Ailsa, The Light Bearer. Now I'll introduce you to her nemesis and the dark to her light, Ydros, The Prince of Shadows.
Mahalia's son has the sad distinction of being the embodiment of Ydros, an ancient dark force that is reborn every eight hundred years, a curse laid upon him by the Goddess Inanya. This force was once just a mortal man, one skilled in the arcane arts. But he sold his very soul to the banished Dark Gods of the old world to gain magic far older and more powerful than Embra had ever known. His misuse of this power led to his eventual downfall and the curse that now binds his soul to the mortal realm.
Into this world is born a boy, one imbued with the dark force, a force his mother and the Red Cabal honour above all else. His creation is an abomination against the Divine. But he is just a boy, one with a dark destiny. He has not yet fully awakened to the darkness deep within his soul.
He has known of his destiny since he was born and has been groomed for it and yet, this incarnation is different. He questions his fate and laments that he has no choice in who he becomes. And so, the boy makes his escape into the world outside his tower. He takes on a new name, a mortal name, Jamal. It is the name of a childhood friend, one that he was close to, one that mysteriously vanished.
So the boy sets out on his own, determined to discover if his fate can be changed.
"You aren't what they tell you to be. You're just you and you get to decide who you are. Not what some old book says you'll be." the words of his old friend has always stayed with him and is the spark that lights his desire to choose.
But can a mere mortal boy overcome the tides of destiny? Or will the darkness claim yet another victim?
Musical Score: Dracovallis - Hero's Destiny
"On this road that leads to an uncertain path does my journey to discover if I am strong enough to turn back the ties that bind my destiny begin. I do not know how it will end nor whether it will all be for nothing but I must at least try. For Jamal. The only friend who saw beyond what I am to become. I will fight or I will fail. But I will have tried to make a choice. I will return to you Mother as your loving son or as the Prince of Shadows. Let me find out who I am on my own terms."
~Letter from Ydros to his Mother.
Ydros seems very intelligent and collected boy. Though it's not easy for him to live with such a burden. I like his outfit. Somehow it made me think of Prince of Persia. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never played that game, seen the movie version though. I wanted his outfit to reflect his homeland and where he comes from. I like that it's distinctive from the more traditional medieval style.
DeleteI'm all for fighting against ones destiny and I really hope that boy's real self will prevail. His clothes and wig looks great!
ReplyDeleteI hope he prevails too but I'm not entirely confident. It will depend on the strength of his will and determination to escape his destiny. Funny thing about fate, it doesn't easily let its victims go.
DeleteBeautifully styled Alasse, I really love his look. I hope he can turn the tide and create a destiny of his own choosing. :)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
X
I'm really happy with his style. He has THE doll that has taken me the longest time for me to figure out his style and what he should wear. Honestly, I've had so much grief over this one. I'm just glad I was able to finally settle on something close to what I had in mind, not exact but close.
DeleteHe's very handsome and his wig and outfit are perfect for him.

That wig is so unique. I originally got it years ago, passed it on to a friend who ended up passing it back to me and I decided to find a use for it because that wig is awesome.
DeleteI love the outfit and I really like the story, honestly!!
ReplyDeleteIt has taken me a long time to find an outfit that really suits his character and I'm really glad I was able to find one that spoke of where he came from.
DeleteHope the darkness does not claim another victim, because Ydros looks and feels like he deserves a bright destiny.
ReplyDeleteHis outfit looks great and the wig is perfect for him!
I think he will fight as hard as he is able to turn back that tide of darkness that is just waiting for him to fall and lower his guard.
DeleteHe looks great. This outfit is perfect - simple and very elegant.
ReplyDeleteBut... it's hard to belive that a boy with a gentle face like this can be so dark. I'm sure he will find his way.
I like the understated style that he wears. It suits his need to blend in with the crowd. It seems that perhaps it is why the darkness chose him in the first place, because of his gentleness.
DeleteI love his outfit! I hope that he does get to choose his own fate and enjoy a better life than the one planned for him!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I think he deserves to choose his own path not one laid out for him by his mother and the darkness itself.
DeleteLovely story :) I hope he will find answers which his is looking for :)
ReplyDeleteHis clotes are great and I love his wig as well :)
I'm just glad I could find a wig that I liked enough for him. He was really hard to find a wig and clothes for!
