The World We Know

Before we get into today's post, I'm wishing everyone to be safe and healthy during this current global situation that is affecting all of us. Do what you can to keep yourselves occupied and sane. I'll be working from home for a few days this week which will be an interesting challenge.

Sometimes, the urge to take photos of my dolls can be really inconvenient particularly if the urge strikes at night rather than during the day when I have beautiful natural light to work with instead of the artificial light of a night time. Eve is one of my favourite characters. When you first read her backstory, it seems like she's a bit of a damsel in distress but I don't feel she is that at all. She did what she had to do in order to survive an unfair situation that she had absolutely no control over. And she continues to survive regardless of what that may entail, such as living with and pretending to be Gwydion's wife. She made a promise to her brother, Noah before he died that she would survive and live above all else and she intends to keep that promise. Noah sacrificed himself so she could escape and she intends to never forget that debt and pay it back in whatever way she can. She is strong of mind and heart.

Kaden has had to find a "New Normal" since the mugging that changed his life and took away his dream of being a professional musician. He still plays the violin and piano but only in the privacy of his estate. His condition prevents him from spending a long period of time outside in sunlight but at least  he can go outside during the night. His anemia often makes him incredibly weak and frequently fatigued. He has very little energy to do a lot which is why he lives the life of a hermit now.

Deirdre often visits him and they talk of their younger days when Ethan was still alive and their band, Reckless was just starting out. Ethan and Deirdre were each other's first love and both of them were fast friends with Kaden and Ethan's younger brother, Lucas. The four of them were a tight group until Ethan died and they broke apart and went their separate ways.

I recently decided to move this character to the modern story instead of the fantasy one. I renamed him Asher. I'm still working out what kind of style he will have. He takes on the role of Gwydion's wing man and is also assigned to Eve as her security whenever she decides to leave Gwydion's estate.
He's a very good fighter, trained in both weapons and hand to hand combat. He used to be a Scarlett Inquisitor which explains why he's so good at fighting. He left the order after a particular incident that left him questioning his loyalty to them and what they were doing. He lived on the Borderlands for a little while despite his rough start with the residents given his background with the Order but eventually managed to carve out a living for himself working security detail for the local bars there. He was recruited by Gwydion's former wing man who is now retired. He lives in Silona now in a modest apartment given to him by Gwydion. The man had hoped Asher would live on the Estate but he declined as he needed his own space and freedom from his work.

I'm sure more of the characters will be revealed as I work on them a bit more. I had planned on sending Asher for a face up next month but with the current situation and our borders closed as of yesterday, it's an uncertain time ahead so I may end up having to try and give him a face up myself. I would have preferred to start with an easier face than this but this is typical for me. Start with the hard face!! I'm not sure how to blush his little frown lines though...
