I can't remember the last time that I took a group photo of my BJD crew - it must have been so long ago that I have forgotten. Today, I decided that I wanted to see what the crew looked like now that we are in 2023 and despite the fact I haven't been able to really do anything with them since we brought our daughter home (She will be 6 in a few months. How time flies!!)
I was surprised that I had so many even though I haven't been doing much in the doll hobby for the past 2 years. During the "hiatus", I somehow managed to bring home 2 new dolls so far (how did that happen??) with another possibly on the way (more on that if it goes through!).
My BJD crew have never been far from my mind despite my absence. It was a good opportunity to look them over while I had them out and check for stains etc. (there were none, yay!) At least 3 of the dolls really need some maintenance work on them, re-string, sueding at the joints but I guess that will have to wait for a while.
Sadly, I wish I could say I was back for good but I am going into major surgery in a few weeks with a long recovery period (2-3 months) so will be out of action again (that is if it doesn't get cancelled again - it has already been cancelled twice on me, the second time I was at the hospital in my surgery gown when it got cancelled!)
On the upside, all that time spent on bed rest and doing not much means I will be able to browse blogs and catch up hopefully to get my mind off things.
I leave you with some photos of Pirate King Gwydion...
I just can't shake the feeling he is giving me a rude gesture beneath those big sleeves. Maybe he isn't in the mood for photos?
He has such a calming face, like a balm for the soul.
What a surprise it was to read a post from you Alasse. I'd be taking full advantage of the bed rest if I was you, just be careful you don't get caught up in a spending spree! LOL! You're younger than me, so you should be fine after your op. I recovered really quickly so no reason you won't. Love the crew!
ReplyDeletebig hugs,
X
I know right? I decided I needed to check the dolls over as they haven't been out of the cabinet for 2 years! Oh I will be taking advantage of the bed rest, don't worry. I'm looking forward to actually taking time out - it's so stressful these past few months. I hope my body is as resilient as yours and I do recover quickly. So stressful thinking about the post-op though. I will have to send you an email soon. After I get back later - have to take little miss to a birthday party.
DeleteThank you for the well wishes for my surgery! Gwydion might have a lovely face but I think he has a tempermental nature!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your surgery! I hope everything will be fine. It's good to see your doll crew again. Haha, Gwydion probably feels offended for being neglected. I think my favourite is that redhead boy in the back row. And I have to say I'm also guilty of neglecting my SD boys, since I'm more into MSD these days. Well, that's the part of the hobby. Warm hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Me too. I'm trying to get healthier before my surgery to be able to get better quicker post op. Lucky Gwydion has such a lovely face otherwise I would really not be able to forgive him! I feel like SDs being so much heavier to cart around means they feel like more work to set up for photoshoots. The redhead at the back row is an Angel of Dream Gu. He's my resident fashion designer who is brutally honest, sometimes to his detriment!!
DeleteI really, really wish you all the best about your surgery! Hope everythig will go well, it won't be cancelled (I can only imagine how nerve-wracking it must be!) and you will have great recovery and lots of time for rest... and all the nice, dolly-related things :)
ReplyDeleteYour resin crew looks stunning, and Gwydion is just as beautiful as always... even if a bit annoyed ;)
Thank you Chiriann. I'm hoping things work out too. I still can't believe how big my crew is, despite thinking I was reducing the size, I ended up making it bigger!
DeleteHello, here I am trying to catch up! With my head in the books and genealogy, it has been so little time for dollies. Hope that you are doing fine after your surgery.
ReplyDeleteYour doll crew looks amazing! And Gwydion is a handsome one.
The number of BJDs I have does sometimes concern me as I successfully at one point got the number down to 21 but somehow it has grown again!
