I've mentioned before that I've started getting into miniature photos, specifically figures. To give you an idea of the scale, they are ideal to use for model railways. So I think they are 1:64 scale or smaller. I am waiting on some better figures with better details in the HO scale made by a company called NOCH. The ones I am using here are just some cheap ones I purchased that came in a batch of 20. They aren't too bad but the paintwork isn't fantastic. But they are good for a starter. I'll do a comparison when the good ones arrive.
I found these - I'm not sure what they are but they look like ice cubes and thought it would be neat to use for my miniature people. I'm limited in the posing styles with this set and they don't come with props. Later in the year, I might splash out on a good set with props. I do like how they look against "real world" objects.
Just a short little post for today. I've spent most of the day cleaning out my craft room so I am exhausted.
Ahh! So they are a little like Antman!! LOL! All kidding aside, I really like what you have achieved with this photo Alasse, and I agree with Linda, the ice cubes really do look real. Will this mean you can get one of those tiny houses now?
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
X
I was surprised to find those ice cube things at a Thrifties store. They sell some interesting stuff. Most likely not. I had a look at those little houses and they are very pricey for such a small scale. I will use these tiny figures to interact with real world objects to put emphasis on their size. I love the idea there could be little people around but we just don't see them.
DeleteI wanted to really bring out that cool effect to give the vibe of coldness to the overall image. Photographing miniatures is a lot of fun. Plus you mostly just use real world objects so very little storage space is needed!
ReplyDeleteThe idea and the photo are simply perfect! I love miniature photography, such as this! Ice berg indeed :). Looks vey realistic and doesn't melt at the same time ;).
ReplyDeleteAlthough melting ice cubes would be interesting. The problem with miniatures is that they are hard to stand in position as they literally do not stand so I have to get creative with tack without making it too big to be visible which is tough! Easiest figures to photograph as no props needed except those available in your home which I love. And they are so tiny, they take up barely any space.
DeleteThe ice looks like the perfect prop - very realistic. And I love the colors in your picture.
ReplyDeleteThe 'ice' prop was such a lucky find, although now I am tempted to try it with real ice and see how it works out. The melting ice puddle could come in handy for other photo opportunity.
DeleteGreat photo! You had an excellent idea. I've seen photos of these tiny figurines on everyday objects and that was amazing. I'm really curious what will you do next.
ReplyDeleteI've been inspired by photos of these tiny people so am trying out some set ups to see what works. They are a pain to pose though. The set up of the actual tiny people takes me a while because they keep falling over. I usually have to use really itsy bitsy tiny specs of tack to keep them standing. So fiddly!
DeleteI do the same when I need my dolls to hold something. Of course the pieces I use are just tiny. xD
DeleteI thought the ice cubes were real! Those figures are really small. I have seen similar figures that an old work colleague uses for his photos. The effects can be really great.
ReplyDeleteThey are super tiny and I love how they look on real world objects. I have a lot more planned just waiting to recover from my surgery first before I can do more.
