By My Side

Right now, I am unable to use my big DSLR camera which is on a tripod. I'm not allowed to lift anything remotely with weight for 6 weeks and even after that, only small weights. So I am using my phone camera to take most photos. I have been so bored on "rest" that I have had my husband bring up dolls to me so I can take photos of them next to me hence the title of this blog, "By My Side."

Playlist: Sunny Mornings by Peder B. Helland

Sayuri got some new clothes recently that I ordered before I went into surgery. Sadly, only 1 of the 3 dresses I got fit her. The other two were too short but that's okay as they will work perfectly for my Momoko girls.

My Super Ducky head on a Poppy Parker body hybrid. I feel like I must have named her but I haven't written it down anywhere. So we'll just call her Miss SD (for Super Ducky) doing a gorgeous selfie.

You know you have TOO many dolls when you can't remember their names. I called this girl Anya on IG but her name is Ingrid. Oh my gosh, I need to make a list for the Barbie line so I can remember their names! Moving on, Ingrid is relaxing with her dog Inu.

Random Lego figure about to make some mischief I think. I just love that expression on his face, like he has some evil plan involving those things scattered around him.

On the upside of having to use my phone camera, I am learning how to use it better with photos. So bright side, silver lining and all that and it means I can at least still take some photos.

Hope everyone is having a good mid-week.

  1. Hi Alasse, I had a giggle about this post, the topic of doll names was so familiar, I'm always forgetting my doll's names too and I have a list!! LOL! I felt so sorry for Sayuri though, she looks so sad that the dresses didn't fit her.
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. I am forever forgetting their names. Although at least with the BJDs, I have the names on the blog but the other doll lines, I have them somewhere on my computer .... Sayuri is an unusual size so the regular YOSD clothing does not fit her.

  2. Goodness, I also laughed quite a bit with this! The photos were great to be honest, and loved Miss SD! She looks so interesting and unique!

    1. Except when Miss SD's head falls off whenever I pick the doll up. Her head isn't designed for these Integrity Toys bodies so it doesn't sit securely on the neck. I haven't come up with a way to fix that yet...

    1. He complains constantly but he does it anyway. He's been good. Although he likes to play with my figures and take photos of them too which is fine.

  4. I rarely get sick to the extent I have to stay at home but when I do, I'm bored too. But dolls can improve your mood and keep you entertained. I like your photos. Sayuri looks so cute. :) And I actually have a list of my dolls' names and characters' bio. It's very useful. :)

    1. Oh I envy you. With a 5 year old, I am constantly getting sick from whatever she catches from school and brings home. I do have a list somewhere on my computer. I just can't remember where.... I put it somewhere really safe!

  5. Good to know that dolls (and Lego guy) are keeping you company! Just get a good rest and get well soon! I usually remember my dolls names, but sometimes I need a moment to get it from the depts of my mind. They are usually coming back... usually XD.

    1. It's always typical that when I have to rest is when I feel the urge to take photos. It's frustrating. I usually end up just calling them the first name that pops into my head!

  6. I am recovering slowly. It's frustrating. I hope you are doing better Mandeline. Miss SD has a very realistic face. She reminds me of a video game character which is the reason I got her in the first place!

  7. Sending hugs!

You took very nice photos. :)

I didn't have the problem with names as long as I stuck the fabric names. Now I started to giving new names to my dolls and the problem is real...

    1. I know right? Long time dolls I have no problem remembering like Deirdre, Geraint - they are dolls who have been here for a long time and have kept the same names mostly. I couldn't even tell you the names of my Integrity girls.

  8. The struggle is real. Even in real life I can forget names or call people new names. It is always easier with 'hey you'. :D Good that you could get some dolls to you and have some fun while resting.

    1. My days are the same and quite boring so it's nice whenever I can get in a doll photo or two!
