I wasn't as good with taking photos this time. And with the weather being so overcast and rainy, most of the photos I did take had to be binned due to excessive blurriness. I forgot to use the tripod and my hands seem to have the slight shakes today.
Popodoll Bomu head for my Popodoll 68cm body. I ordered him with the default face up as I adore it so much. He was ordered through Jeeryama on ebay and as per usual, a very smooth, hassle free purchase with stellar customer service. I've been ordering from Jeeryama since I first entered the hobby, in fact, my first doll was actually ordered through them.
PD Bomu dressed and on his body. I am not sure if he'll keep that wig or those eyes yet. His character is Devon Lewis, a rather gentle man with fae blood running through his veins. He also happens to be the bastard child of a powerful fae of the old bloodline.
After three months of waiting and two shipping dates from Withdoll that were never met (not to mention that the company underestimates their production time), my husband's birthday present to me has finally arrived.
This box was a job and a half to actually open.
Withdoll Fenrir. You can't really see it from this distance but there is a small white chip on his left eyeshadow area.
Fenrir dressed. Not sure on the wig though. According to my research, Fenrir was supposed to be a size 7-8inch wig which happens to be a tad big for him so looks like 6-7inch fits a lot better.
The Good: He is quite lightweight which was surprising and his face up is exact to the promo photos of him and beautifully done. Resin feels quite nice and the hands are sculpted well. Magnetic hands are a plus. Seamlines are present but unobtrusive and fairly small in size.
The Bad: He can't look up at all. His legs are strung entirely separately, exactly the same way the Iplehouse JID legs are strung (which for those who remember drove me insane with my JID Asa and among one of the reasons I parted ways with her.) I'll try sueding that area and see if it helps.
Overall: I do love this doll despite all the frustrations with the company I had.
I'm glad you finally got him and didn't have to use other means to get your doll or funds back!
ReplyDeleteI really like this sculpt, but what draws my attention the most is the way nose and lips were sculpted. So nice and different from other boys in this size. Oh and ears! They seem to be delicate and very detailed.
Can't wait to see what you'll do with him. :)
Your Devon boy does look gentle in that wig. At least to me.
You have a gift for finding interesting sculpts and turning them into intriguing characters!
I am too. For a bit there, I was honestly uncertain as to whether I would ever actually get the doll. I am glad the company came through in the end.
DeleteI think, if you want to order from them, be prepared to wait longer than their stated production time, and apparently, their special skins are now only available during events so that's going to set the wait time back as well as WD don't seem to cope well with mass orders. So I'd say if you prepare yourself for at least a 3-4 month wait, you can go in with some inkling of what you're in for. Although if you are only ordering the basic skin tones like normal skin, they seem to produce those at a faster rate than the special skintones. Oh and I only found this out recently, the UV skin is actually french resin with UV protection. I'm glad I didn't order that option because I am not fussed on the transparency of french resin.
Withdoll do some amazing looking sculpts that are different from what you get at most companies. I do like the way they do the eyeshape on their sculpts.
I'm thinking my Fenrir will be wearing something fantasy style. His character name is Sado and is pegged as the "Warrior" class of my band of companions. He's bonded to Naiya through an ancient blood promise between his people and hers. He's also her protector.
Oh thank you! On the other end of that spectrum, it seems I am constantly drawn to the less popular sculpts though so finding owner pictures can be a challenge. I've had to go on faith sometimes. I did this with Bomu only seeing his promo photos and I am glad because in this instance, it did pay off. He's exactly how he appears in his pictures and everything I imagined and more. So I am very very happy with him.
