I'm Here: DZ Hid Box Opening

After three months, my Dollzone Hid has arrived, yep, the Hid that was almost my first doll. Had I actually bought him back then, my collection would definitely not be what it is today...

I ordered him on layaway from DDE. My very first full Dollzone doll.

Silly me had no idea I had ordered during an event, in fact, the day before the event was due to end to be exact so I got a free fullset outfit with him. That was a nice surprise.

 

 

That's all you get by way of a certificate from Dollzone.

First glimpse. I waited three years to see him in person.

It's hard to see but it says 'Since 2005'. Incidentally, the very same year I discovered BJDs and admired them from afar because I was broke and living off a pittance.

 

 

The star of the show finally. Dollzone gave him such awesome glass eyes although he won't be wearing those. They might end up going in my RS Song though.

All I can say is that all the hype over Dollzone bodies is true. This guy is a champion at posing and I don't even have to fiddle with him to get him to stand or pose at all. I am still discovering his posing abilities but so far, I am loving what I see. And the best thing? Even though his seams were sanded, there is very little evidence of where the sanding happened because there is no discoloration that I can see at all. And he feels solid. His resin is really lovely and has a nice smooth feel to it but isn't shiny at all. The other big thing I noticed is that when I opened him, there wasn't that overpowering new resin smell that comes with a lot of new dolls.

 

The tan resin is a lot lighter than I expected but it's still nice. I am glad I hung on to the possibility that Dollzone would re-release the tan skin option again. At the time I wanted to order him, they had just discontinued their tan resin and I debated whether he would work in normal skin. I am glad I decided against it because he wouldn't be the character he is in any other colour.

 

The specs in brief is Dollzone Hid, tan skin on old double joint body (B45-003). I toyed with the idea of getting him on the newer, slimmer boy body but I saw photos of his head on that body and I felt it was too bobble headed because of the smaller shoulder width on the newer body. Maybe one day, I will get one of the newer bodies if they release a sculpt I like as much as I've loved Hid all these years.
