That in no way affects how much I adore her though.
First up, her packaging. She came in a gorgeous red and silver/grey box decorated with rabbits.
It took a while to unpack her as she was in there nice and secure.
A neat little profile card that came with her. She also had some black Mary Jane shoes. I was a little disappointed the shoes were just plastic. It did kind of feel like all the thought went into her gorgeous outfit but when it came to the shoes, they ran out of budget or something ...
Neat little head band which is a pain in the butt. It does not stay on her head at all, but I kinda knew that already from the reviews I had seen. It could do with a hair clip sewn onto the underside to fit it more securely to the hair I think.
Unpacked and out of the box finally. These dolls cannot stand by themselves because of how big and heavy that noggin is. Hence the stand. Her outfit is gorgeous and layered but is secured with velcro at the back. I would have liked to have seen snaps instead.
Her curls were packed in a hair net but that didn't prevent the insane frizzing that was already happening. Straight out of the box, those curls are super frizzy and high maintenance. As soon as I figure out how, I will be changing out that wig for something else. There is no way to control those frizzed up curls. The hair at the top feels soft but where the curls are, the wig feels quite coarse and dry and it has a very plastic smell to it which I don't particularly like. Although I have been spoiled with BJD hair being such nice quality.
Overall, I really like her. She's a beautiful doll. One thing I did find was the eye mechanism got stuck when I had her eyes closed and it took some fiddling to get her eyes opened again. That was a bit scary.
A few more extra shots mostly showing what those eye mechs at the back of her head can do.
A close up of her face. I love the make up on her and I really adore her eyes. They are very reflective.
Love that she winks. This is one of the reasons I was sold on these dolls. The ability to wink, sleep and look from side to side.
Looking from side to side. I love this expression.
Congrats on your new Alice! She got to you pretty fast. It's surprising how big Pullips seem, isn't it? Their bodies may be small, but their heads are so big. haha
ReplyDeleteHer face-up and outfit are so pretty! That's a shame that the ribbon doesn't stay on. Also, that's too bad that her hair is frizzy. It doesn't surprise me though. I've never had much luck with Pullip wigs. Only two of my dolls (my Isul Glen and my Taeyang Ni-ya) still wear their original wigs. Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy her. :)
She did. I was surprised as I opted for Priority Mail and not Priority Express. But I've noticed Priority Mail tends to get here a lot faster than Express for some reason.
DeleteYou kind of forget about the size of the body because the head just completely overwhelms it so when you see a Pullip for the first time, the head is all you see, well, it was for me.
I do love her though. It was love at first sight. I am glad I went with her. I have sort of managed to tame the frizz now but even handling her just today, the frizz has gotten even worse. I'm not sure yet but if it gets really really bad, I might just end up giving her a hair cut.
I've had a quick look at removing the stock wigs, did you remove yours using the flathead screwdriver method? I never realise their wigs were glued onto their heads. I thought the wigs were like the typical style wigs we use for our bjds, it just comes off. I'm admittedly a little scared after reading how people have removed the wigs, scared that I'll ruin her or something. Did you find it easy to remove the stock wigs from yours?
The screwdriver method works. I've also used either my fingernails or a butter knife--just wedged it under the wig and pried it up, then ripped it off. Some of the wigs I've managed to save, but some have gotten torn and ruined in the process of removal. If you try it, start prying it up from the back of her head and try to keep sharp objects away from her face. Also, try not to cut yourself...I've done that a few times. XD And, yes, it is a bit scary. I still get a nervous when I decide to remove a wig. Some are harder to remove than others depending on how much glue was used to attach the wig.
ReplyDeleteHere is a pretty good tutorial...although I don't recommend an really sharp knife unless it's a very stubborn wig: http://www.requiemart.com/pullip/open.html
Thanks for the tips and the link. I will check that out. Still, rather scary. I'll see if I can fix this wig first and change it out as a last resort. Do not want to ruin her and given my clumsiness, this could be a reality! But I will keep in mind, use something flat and blunt and steer clear of the face.
DeleteShe is really pretty, congrats! ^^ Her outfit and everything looks just gorgeous and the package is super pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Safir! I do love her Alice outfit quite a lot. The colours just go so well with the rest of her.
DeleteShe's really pretty! I love all the little details of her outfit. :)
ReplyDeleteThey put a lot of thought and work into her stock outfit. I love all the lace and the material of her dress feels a bit like satin which is nice.
DeleteCongrats on your first Pullip! n_n She's a really beautiful one. n_n I sometimes miss having Pullips, although there were a lot of things that bugged me. :D Maybe some day again. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the hair, there are some tutorials with fabric softener and stuff floating around the Pullip community - it might help with the wig, if you decide to work on it...it IS a gorgeous color!
Thank you. The bodies aren't the best but I'll most likely have her as more of a display doll than a play doll so that doesn't annoy me too much. She is great to take photos of though so I'll be doing a lot of that. She's definitely different from the other doll lines I have and that will take getting used to.
DeleteThanks for the hair tip. I think I will try some of the suggestions. I will try and tame it first before rewigging her and if worst comes to worst, I could give her a haircut and do some loose curls or something ...
Congrats Alasse on receiving your Pullip . . . she's a very pretty choice. Pullips may have a big head, but their heads are nowhere near as big as the Blythe dolls, they are really huge! I think the hair gets brittle and course on the ends because of the heat curling . . . you could give her a trim, taking about 1/2 inch off the ends, it may help, it did on mine.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
X
Thanks Xanadu. I am really happy I ended up going with this particular Pullip. And I did not know that about Blythe heads. I assumed they were the same size as the Pullip heads.
DeleteI'm thinking I may have to try trimming the ends. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Kiddo, You fallen off the waggon? I miss your blogging, things are just too quiet aroung here without you. Now tell me, did you trim her hair?
DeleteHugs,
X
I haven't as yet trimmed her hair but thank you for enquiring after me. I've made a post to explain my absence.
Deletecongrats!! such a lovely edition!!! I really like her clothes and those eyes look so shiny, I don't think I've seen another pullip where the eyes reflect so much, you took some really nice pictures of her~
ReplyDeletePullip wigs aren't as good as BJD wigs, I haven't seen any up close, but I've been told they are more like barbie hair (or you know, cheaper dolls hair), but they stiill look great. You can always replace it with a 9-10 inches bjd wig :).
Thanks! I think the colour of the eyes may help with how shiny they can appear. I personally prefer lighter coloured eyes for my dolls though.
DeleteThanks for the tip on the wig size. I would like to change out her hair to one from Leekeworld. I like the milky white colour from them. The Pullip's hair itself is quite soft, it's just the ends that seem really coarse and unpleasant. The top part is actually really soft fibre, kind of similar to my newer FR dolls.
She's really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think so too. I love her colour theme.
DeleteWow she is SO pretty!! I love the colors! And what a gorgeous faceup, she really is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteShe is a beautiful doll.
DeleteCongrats on new beautiful doll! She reminds me a bit my Pullip Cinciallegra that I sold and I regret it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have seen Pullip Cinciallegra. She is quite a pretty doll.
Delete(/ OwO)/ ♡
