Box Opening: Pullip Alice in Steampunk World

Imagine my surprise when my doll arrived today. What a fast turnaround from the USA. I'm glad I wasn't made to wait for a week or something like that!

Introducing Alice in Steampunk World...

The pretty box she came in. I like the design and the hint of blue at the top.

Out of the box. Removing Pullips from their boxes is always a bit fiddly.

Finally out and assembled on her stand (which is gold).

Her wig is two toned, blonde with darker blonde/brown strands falling through. She has three big curls at the bottom of the wig. The wig itself is quite soft to the touch. Unlike Classical Sepia Alice, I didn't get the synthetic feeling with this wig.

Her headpiece is attached with long leather that can be tied. The fabric is quite a lovely pattern and I adore the design with the key attached with simple black threading. Like the other headpieces I have for the other Pullips, this one does fall off quite easily. If you tie under her chin, it might be more secure.

Her dress is made up of five pieces. The one piece blue dress, the brown bodice piece that goes over it and the light caramel brown apron (it feels like soft leather). There's two armlets and a long strip of wrapping. Underneath, her body is wrapped in plastic so I am assuming her clothing possibly stains.

She has gorgeous blue and white striped stockings with Mary Jane style shoes. Usually, Pullip shoes have a tendency to be a bit bigger than the foot, at least in my experience. These shoes were a perfect fit which surprised me and slipped on easily. They are just plastic shoes.

She has no shading on her eyelids. They are au natural. But the detailing on those eyes and the colours used are just magnificent.

A closer look at the full face showing the eyeshadow shading and blushing as well as those delicate eyebrows.

Her eyes are a really lovely light blue colour. I like how they reflect the light and they really do pop.

I am really pleased with everything about her. Although those curls are a tad frizzy so maybe one day I will either try to straighten them or cut them off. Her natural style face and hair will make it really easy to redress her if I decide to do that.

  2. Congratulations Alasse, she looks lovely and will make a great addition to your other Pullips. Her clothes look really sweet, but not terribly steampunk to me. Apart from the leather look bodice and the couple of cogs, she just looks like she's wearing a pretty outfit, but I guess you could always adapt or add a little more to it.

    1. Thanks Xanadu. I have to agree with you there, particularly compared to your steampunk girl, they seem to have really just done a nod to that genre. Honestly though, I like her a lot in just the blue dress without the bodice or apron. I removed the body plastic though so have to figure out how to sew up a quick bodysuit in case of staining.

    1. It's really soft like Nana Chan's hair. Classical Sepia Alice is really the only one that has hair that feels a little synthetic. Her face up is one of the reasons I ended up getting her. It's so light and natural and not too full on, although I also got Mad Hatter because the face up was really bold and strong so we'll see how that one will look in person.
