A Cyborg and Alice

In my last post, I mentioned that my latest Pullip girl arrived the day my friend was here. I finally got around to taking some photos of her.

**Used textures from DivsM-stock in this photo manipulation.

She is Francoise Arnoul from 009 Cyborg. She came out I believe in 2012. When I first saw a photo of her on someone's blog, I said to hubby, "You know, she looks like she's from the 60s or 70s." And this is what drew me to her. She had that very old vintage super hero feel to her. Hubby says she reminds him of Thunderbirds.

I was drawn by her whole style and after reading up on 009 Cyborg, I fell even more in love. I love this kind of story concept so I ordered her from Amiami. Technically she was on backorder and I had to wait a bit to find out if they could get her (which lucky for me, they could).

Here she is pictured with her scarf which has two tiny wires enabling the scarf to hold its shape or act like it's blowing in the wind.

Close up of her shoes which aren't the best quality in my opinion but has a nice look to them anyway.

She also came with an extra outfit, this simple red dress with heels, black stockings and a rather racy underwear.

I don't think she was very popular when she came out due to her simple boyish outfit. Personally I love it and it was nice to not see another big frilly dress. I'm all frilled out! I think she will look quite lovely re-rdressed as well. Her features are subtle enough to go with anything.

Close up of her face up, very soft and subtle and those gorgeous green eyes. I love the anime style detail to them. Her hairband is a simple wire one that bends. It stays on well enough.

Her wig is actually lovely and soft but a bit thin. I knew this already from reviews I had read on her so it doesn't really bother me. I love the bob style though. I'm glad I took the plunge and got her.

I also bought the Alice Cartelet nendoroid off my friend earlier in January.

She is just so darn cute. I really love everything about this little girl. Have no idea what she's from but I love her character design.

She came with some different arm options (including the one with the doll she is holding at the moment), an umbrella and these are her two additional expressions. I love both of these quite a lot too.

And to finish off, a comparison between the two ...

Alice looks a little worried I think because of the big giant thing next to her!

  1. Francoise is charming! I like her simple look, and the scarf/cape looks like it would be tons of fun for taking pictures. :D

    1. I kind of wish the wire in the scarf was a bit stronger though as it takes a bit of fiddling to get that scarf to pose the way I want!

  2. I knew nendoroids were small but that's microscopic hahaha XD Super cute~ love the pink blushing on the hair :D

And the pullip girl is just stunning, love her vintage feel and hair, and her clothes too~ congrats on getting her! I'm not familiar with the character or the 009 Cyborg thing, but She's just perfect!

    1. Nendoroids work so well as collections for "dolls". Especially the petite Nendoroids. I'll have to take a comparison shot for you at some stage and you'll see what I mean, especially if you think that girl is small, wait until you see her next to a petite Nendoroid.

Oh I am really glad I took the plunge with her although it was a nervous week whilst I waited on an answer from Amiami. I think this girl just calls for vintage dresses!

  3. She looks wonderful! I've seen 009 Cyborg (the eps made in early 2000s), but don't remember much from it... I do remember that I loved Francoise's character and she looks so pretty too ^^ I didn't know that there is a Pullip version of her, how cool! Hope you'll share more photos of her in the future~

    1. I haven't seen any of the anime yet but I am in the process of tracking down episodes.

She is so pretty. I was really surprised. The face up is just very subtle and not too bold. I kind of like a lot of Groove's older Pullips to be honest. There was just something about them the newer ones seem to lack (for me anyways).

  4. I think Pullip can really pull off retro looks very well too! She kind of reminds me of an old spy game (No one lives forever) ~ and I adore the fashion of that time XD;;

Alice is cute too, I love gradient hair colors @o@

    1. Ooooh I could definitely see her as a spy! Now you have got me thinking about spy outfits. I might watch the old series of Get Smart for inspiration. I love that show.

I am actually surprised these figures come with gradient hair colours. I've noticed this on a few of them now. I like it!

  5. Yep definitely "Thunderbirds Are Go!", I can see how hubby relates. :)She almost reminds me of Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward with her blonde hair!! LOL!!

She's a great Pullip (though the outfit could do with a little modding) I quite like this one Alasse, and little Alice is very cute. :)

    1. I can vaguely recall a few of those Thunderbirds episodes. Man, those were the days weren't they? I am not familiar with that character but I will have to look Lady Penelope up. I'm intrigued.

A lot of the older Pullips are quite lovely. I'm particularly loving the Audrey Hepburn ones that were released too.

  6. Ah, glad to see some pics of the newest Pullip girl! How does she get on with the rest? She seems so different to the others. I do love her style. I think no matter what you dress her in, she will always look classic. Do you think you'll try her in some 60's/70's styles sometime?
I love the comparison with the Nendoroid. Really gives a sense of the scale on both. And Alice is such a cutie in that pic. The blushing on Alice's hair seemed so much more vibrant in person, but in photos, it seems so pale.

    1. I think she is definitely in a league of her own there. I see her as the most confident of the entire collection and someone who can hold her own.

I'm planning on 60s/70s theme styles for her certainly. I might have to do some research and actually start making my own clothing for these girls! I've been really wanting to make dresses from that era anyway as the 50-70s were my favourite eras for fashion.

Could be the lighting on Alice's hair though. I took it on one of the cloudy days so didn't get a lot of sunlight. She is quite the lovely Nendoroid though. I really love how cute and adorable she is. She also reminds me a little of your Queenie which is why I wanted to get her!
