The Pullip Video That Did It

What got me into Pullips was a review on Alice Sepia by Omocha Crush. It got me really interested in these dolls that I had seen briefly in person once several years ago but I never really looked at again. I can't remember how I stumbled on the video or why, but I remember I was enchanted with that particular doll. And then I found the official Pullip Youtube channel and it was the How To Play With Pullip that pushed me over the edge to purchase. I watched this video a few times whilst waiting for her to arrive, that's how excited I was.

It was also interesting to watch the video on How to Pullip which was a quick video on the concept and creation behind the Pullip dolls. I really wish bjd companies would do this for their dolls. It's always nice to have a peek behind the scenes.

Still on the Pullip train right now and decided to take more photos of Clara because she's adorable and my first and you never forget your first...

She is so ghostly in this dress, I really love it. I wish I had tried it on her earlier. I need to make her more toy pets.

During this shoot, I "got" why people obitsued these dolls. The type 4 body that I have on all my Pullips have extremely limited posing ability and it was impossible to get her to sit without toppling over unless there was something behind her to keep her upright. This is fine if you want display Pullips that are held on their stand all the time but if you want to actually try and pose them, it's a lot more difficult. At least on this body.

For those who do use the Obitsu bodies, is it the white skin and do they stand or sit unaided once on those bodies? I know white skin Pureneemo bodies are a good match but the lack of tutorials on how to attach the neck to a Pullip head has me a bit cautious.

I'd love to be able to do more shoots with them but I need to figure out how to get them to stand/sit on their own or "Obitsu" them.

  1. Wow I had no idea those videos existed! Haha ~ They are pretty cool ~ I got into Pullip thanks to a pink wig I wanted to put on something, but it was SD-sized! That led to me buying my first Pullip ^^

Clara is really very pretty, I love her face-up and those pretty gray eyes!

White Obitsus will match most general paler Pullips (most of them have pale skintone, but there are exceptions!) ~ Obitsus are generally a bit weightier and sturdier and very posable, but they still can't balance very well in my opionion (and Obitsu torsos also have issues with being floppy sometimes!) sitting shouldn't be a big problem though ^^ it's just the big head that's the main issue!

    I also have 1 Pullip on a Pureneemo here, I can't remember exactly how I attached it (though I could take a look) but I don't recall there being any difficulty compared to obitsus, both would likely require a small saw to cut off neck pegs TT;

There's a ton of tutorials over at PF:

    1. I preferred the original song they had with the videos but they changed it out a few months back. Do you still have that pink wig out of curiosity?

Thank you for all the information and links! I thought I saw a while back a tutorial on attaching a Pureneemo body with a Pullip head but for the life of me, I can't find it anymore. I vaguely remember it being somewhat similar to how you attach Obitsu bodies. I would prefer the Pureneemo body to be honest, lots of hand options available plus I prefer the aesthetics of that body to the Obitsu body. I also heard a lot of people use the soft bust option but it has a tendency to melt when coming into contact with a different plastic?

    2. I don't have it any more, but I still have pictures of my girl in that wig~ she's changed wigs twice since then ^^

Obitsu also has hand options :3 which are also great, I prefer the Obitsus overall, despite them not being as pretty as pureneemos, however Obitsu is working on a newer gorgeous body in that size, I think it should be released this year~ but they only showed us a prototype! You're right, the soft plastic can melt the heads, but you can use some clingwrap around the area that touched the head! Otherwise you can choose the hard bust option :3

    3. A new Obitsu body? Okay ... that sounds interesting. Do you by any chance have a link to the prototype? Maybe I might wait for the new body to try out an Obitsu ... I can always Obistu one Pullip and Neemo the other!

  2. She is ghostly indeed!! love this set of photos of her the most!
I remember being super tempted after watching the how to play with pullip video some time ago hahaha, but I resisted in the end. I didn't know the other video though, so thank you very much for sharing!

    1. I admire your persistent resistance! I resisted for a long time but eventually caved and I have to admit that I am glad I did. Despite their limited bodies, I still find these dolls totally enchant me.
