A lot of photos to post today. It's been a very cold past two days here in the (normally warm) tropics. Unusual weather for here but I'm not complaining. Even had to turn on the heater last night just to get warm! That is a first!
Let's start with Iron Man.
I was at the newsagent today and saw this new magazine with a figure of Iron Man attached to it. So of course, I couldn't resist. I adore Iron Man's suit.
This was the magazine and it is issue 01. Apparently there will be an issue released each fortnight along with a figure from any of the Avengers movies.
This was also included and had details of all the figures to be released. Issue 02 will have Black Widow so of course I will be trying my hardest to get my hands on that one!
He also came with a COA which was pretty neat. Details of his suit and the base he is standing on. He is attached to this base.
Not a bad job on the paintwork on the face. The painting on the suit in places was not perfect but for the price of this figure, I was pleasantly surprised at how solid he felt. Not hollow at all. And the paint is pretty good overall.
One last photo to close this unexpected purchase.
I also picked up a Bratz doll, my first actually. I've always been curious about these dolls but they're insanely pricey here however Toyworld had them reduced so I figured why not.
This is the girl I got. Her name is apparently 'Cloe'. I got her mostly for the pink hair. I bought her with the intention of repainting her. I've never been a big fan of those huge lips on these dolls. I was hoping the body would stand on its own but it doesn't.
I used assistance to get her to look like she's standing here. The accessories she came with was pretty neat. The phone actually comes with two different styles of phone covers. Once I repaint her, she's most likely going to get a different body. Shame as I love those winged shoes but don't like the way Bratz dolls are designed with no feet.
I actually bought this girl for her body. I have her on my Game Developer Barbie's body here as her original body went to my Game Developer Barbie head. It had more articulation. I had intended to use her as a junk head but after giving her a hair cut, I don't mind her new look. She was originally this Barbie [click here]. I forgot to take a photo of her before her new hair-do. She's currently being used as my spare body for making Barbie patterns (when I get motivated enough to attempt that again).
Here's my Game Developer Barbie girl on her new more articulated body. There is just a slight difference in the tan colour. She seemed a touch redder but it doesn't look bad here. Unfortunately it shows up more on the Barbie Style girl on the GD body.
Of course, a confrontation was bound to happen between these two ...
Yep Barbie Style Barbie is one scary lady. She's also got the rooted lashes. I don't think it adds anything to be honest and wish she didn't have them but they're pretty hard to remove so a repaint won't really fix the issue.
That's it for today. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Rug up for all those in the cold climates!
Hi Alasse,
ReplyDeleteThat Iron Man has a pretty good likeness for that type of figure. My grandkids loved Bratz, so I've bought a few in my time, but you can bet your sweet life they've all ended up in the bin by now. :)
Your little story made me smile, I like your sense of humour.
Hugs,
X
I've never really been into Bratz but I was surprised to find how heavy they are for a vinyl doll. The bodies aren't any good though. I don't like that they have no feet. I love some of the shoes though so it is a shame the body is so useless. Even if she could stand on her own, I could have sort of lived with the rubbery arms for a bit at least. I'm going to treat her like a big Pullip head and put on her another body.
DeleteThe fashion dolls are just so easy to pose and use in quick photo story shoots. I love that and I've been really enjoying making little props for them. I'm hoping to actually make a bedroom for one of them at least.
That Iron Man looks good - he's an Eaglemoss, isn't he? I have a few of their older magazine/figures but from the look of this guy they've been making improvements on their detailing!
ReplyDeleteLOLing at "the great body thief"! ;)
Yep Eaglemoss. I didn't even know these types of things were available but knowing our newsagents here, they get the first issue and then you never see them again! So it'd be interesting if issue 02 will actually be in store.
DeleteI think they are pretty neat for the price although one day I will get a proper Black Widow figure when I find one I like enough. She's my favourite from Avengers, Black Widow and Hawkeye. I like the iron man suit not so much the character of Tony Stark though.
Sounds like great weather, what I wouldn't do for a chilly evening! It's constantly around 35 degrees here on this little island ;_;
ReplyDeleteIron man looks very handsome and I'd say black widow is a must have as well. Captain America is very good looking too!
I'm curious to see your repaint of the Bratz doll, since I don't think I've seen too many repaints of those around :O her hair color is pastel perfect though!
Also that's a cute yet terrifying little photo story. Hahahha~
It didn't last though. We had it for two whole days and now it's back to being bleh.
DeleteI've seen some pretty gorgeous Bratz repaints recently. I did repaint that Bratz boy as my first repaint. I like the size of the head because it gives a nice space to paint in.
She is certainly one scary doll that one.
I totally skipped this post!!! The style barbie is so scary haha
ReplyDeleteLove GD barbie, she's so cool!! and the color difference doesn't show on her :D
That pink haired bratz is really pretty~ I don't mind their big lips, I actually like them!
And that's a nice Iron man figure considering it is included in a magazine :)
It's weird that GD Barbie doesn't show the mismatch but the Style Barbie does. Maybe because the Style Barbie is much lighter in colour? Sleep with one eye open - check.
DeleteI love her pink hair. I want to make her look a little more innocent I think. We'll see how that pans out! If all else fails, I have a face up artist who paints these dolls.
I'm really surprised at the quality of Iron Man. I'm curious to see if this keeps up though across all figures.
