2017 Grail Dolls

I saw this tag going around on instagram and thought it'd be neat to figure out what my grail dolls were for 2017. The word 'grail' can mean different things to different people. For me, a grail doll is one that I actively save for. This  can take quite a long time but eventually, I know I will save enough to purchase the doll.

My grails (in no particular order) are Daydream Doll Coco and Nine9Style Bunny Nine Maple C. These will most likely be the last bjds I will purchase due to space constraints. It's interesting they are both girls. I always thought I would be more of a male doll collector and I was initially but somehow, I've been purchasing a lot more girls in the past two years. I don't know when I will get these two dolls. My doll fund is going up but rather slowly so it will take a while.

My other piece of news is that I've somehow ventured into yet another doll line although I think this will really be more of a one-off purchase from that line.

I've been wanting a doll version of the Dark Phoenix from X-Men for a while now. I debated making one myself but wasn't really confident in doing the outfit or face. The Dark Phoenix storyline is one of my favourites from the X-men series so when I saw Coreplay had released a 1/6 scale doll of her with great posing ability to boot, I had to put her on pre-order. She won't be released until April 2017 if they stick to that schedule.

I'm not really familiar with Coreplay but from what I've seen of the promo photos, that body seems pretty good and I'm quite excited to finally have Dark Phoneix in my doll collection.

  1. Ohhh how come I haven't seen this tag around, looks so much fun!!! Loving that phoenix doll, even though I never liked Jean Grey much hahaha, but the dark phoenix storyline is great I agree on that :D

I thought you would be done with BJDs after May, but I'm glad to see there's still a few plans here and there, both girls are super cute!!I think they will fit right in with your style :D!
I'm not actively saving for BJDs at the moment, but there is a few things I want to purchase down the line.

Glad you are feeling okay enough to do stuff now, hopefully the cough will go away soon. Have a great weekend!

    1. I have a hankering to watch the Dark Phoenix storyline again. I'm sure I have an animated X-Men dvd around somewhere that my brother gave me.

I suspect I will probably only be able to get one of those girls in 2017 depending on what Momoko dolls pop up. At the moment, the only releases in that line I have liked are exclusive Japan releases which are hard to get so they're not on my wishlist for that reason.

I was also debating over another 40cm Vinyl doll from Parabox to go with my 50cm Vinyl girl but I haven't really decided on that yet. It's on the procrastination pile!

I hope the cough goes away soon too. I saw the doctor again on Thursday and she said that it can take up to 6 weeks to completely get over this viral infection. Meanwhile, my to do pile isn't getting any smaller! Having crafting withdrawal!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Can't believe it's Sunday here already.

  2. Hi Alasse,
They are both pretty girls, and quite similar in looks, though not in style. I hope you get to achieve your grail dolls in 2017. I've reached the end of my BJD collecting now, but perhaps there are some others on the horizon for me now.

Glad to see your feeling well enough to post again. I did read your other posts, but neglected to comment this time round...sorry.
    Hugs,
    X

    1. I'm curious to see where you will go now with your collection. Does this mean other doll lines are opening up for you?

Don't worry about it. No need to apologise, don't expect you to comment on everything I post at all! Sometimes, I post a lot! And people get busy so it's all good. There are a few blogs I don't get around to commenting on either.

  3. What about plastic/vinyl fashion dolls? :-)

    1. I'm still waiting to see what else pops up in the Momokodoll line. So far, there have been two newer releases that I like but they've been Japan exclusives and hard to get so I don't even bother putting those on my wishlist. If a doll is hard to get, I don't really bother with it - too much headache and jumping through hoops to get. I'm happy to wait and see what else they release, hopefully not as many exclusives as they've done this year so far!!

I don't really have any Barbie grails at the moment. I tend to buy those when I see them in store and if I like them enough. I don't usually order those in.

As for Fashion Royalty, I'm still concerned about those decal eyes so I'm wary of buying any of the newer dolls. I heard that at the convention IT apparently said they would stop doing decal eyes but I still haven't been able to find a list of dolls that have those eyes so I can avoid them. I would like to get one or two of the older Poppy Parker dolls but so far, none of them have appeared on the secondary market at the right price.

    2. I have similar thoughts about exclusive Momoko dolls and Poppy Parker on the secondary market. I'm glad that you are interesting in more Momokos.
As for Barbie, I wait for one Fashionistas head for MtM Body.

  4. Wow, they will really be your last BJDs? I have never dared utter such a sentence. LOL!
Phoenix was one of my favorite parts of X-men too when I used to watch the cartoon when I was younger! She looks fabulous!

    1. Space constraints make limiting the number of certain dolls a lot easier. My cabinet has enough space to fit one more MSD and one more Yo-SD doll. I consider the Bunny-Nine doll more of a Yo-SD size (she's 30cm). Then it's at Maximum capacity. I don't even look at SDs anymore as I just don't have the cabinet space for anymore of them.

I like Rogue too but I still haven't found a decent doll of her yet. Maybe Coreplay will get a licence to produce her as well. Fingers crossed!

  5. My grail list would be too big. But there are some dolls that make my heart jump a bit more. Hope that you can get these two cute girls one day!

Phoenix looks just great. I have Storm and Mystique as my favourites! Love the movies.

    1. I do too. It'd be nice if one of them came with elf ears though. I'm really wanting an elf doll lately.

Oh yes, I forgot about Storm. I like her too but I prefer her as she appeared in Apocalypse; the younger version with the mohawk.
