I decided to browse around Hobbysearch today to see what's new and found one of my favourite companies, Megahouse, had released a 1/8 G.E.M version of the
Black Butler, Sebastian Michaelis. I rather like the anime and really love the figure, plus I don't as yet have a 1/8 figure ... I just had to order him. He isn't expected to be released until April 2015 (unless the release date gets pushed back as is often the case). I've been wanting the Black Butler figures for a while now. Glad I was in time to put this one on reserve.
"Because I'm one hell of a butler." ~Sebastian
He looks fabulous. I liked this anime as well, and I really enjoyed the manga, but I sort of stopped reading manga all together after Nana just stopped....so I never finished it. Or kept up with it (I have no idea if it's finished or not!).
ReplyDeleteI love that hair!
I was reading that manga too! I remember hearing something about Nana - I think it was actually finished but there was a lot of volumes. I stopped at Volume 13 but I did end up buying the anime which I haven't (still) watched all the episodes yet. Two of the DVDs I bought when I was in Canada (before Australia even had any releases). Lucky my player is multi-zone. I often buy a lot of Asian Cinema films so it makes multi-zone players handy.
DeleteDid you ever watch Deathnote? I was a little disappointed with the second arc of the anime, it just didn't have the same draw as the first arc. But I definitely enjoyed the live action film quite a bit. I actually re-watched that the other day.
Hmm, might re-watch Advent Children too. I love that film and wish Square Enix would release more.
Nana was heartbreaking. The artist got really sick and hasn't done anything since Vol 21, which was HORRIBLE. Bad bad things happened. And then it stopped. I check every once in a while to see if she's picked it back up (she's done like, one one-page comic since being sick. It must have been bad), but so far I've found nothing...It killed my desire to read much manga, other than Loveless (which I forget about since it takes so long between volumes. I should make sure I didn't miss one XD).
DeleteI read Deathnote, and I think I watched until L died - I read it first so I knew it was coming. Still sucked. L was so my favorite anime character ever. I only kept reading to see Light die, because I was sure he would. But I was very disappointed at ....pretty much L dying and everything after that. I read somewhere that they really regretted killing L off....duh. I did love the movies - I own both XD
Maybe it was a good thing that I stopped reading the manga at Vol. 13 then. Sad to hear the artist got sick. I hope she's okay now. I always thought it sounded like one of the Nana's died, just from the way the manga introductions are written but I never could figure out which Nana it was.
DeleteI really don't know why they killed off L. His replacement just wasn't the same. The atmosphere between L and Light really made that first arc. I have both movies too. I think they did such a fantastic job of casting the actor who played L.
They did! He was so good! It almost made up for killing L off XD
DeleteAlmost.
You start to find out that Nana (not Hachi - the singer) disappears, but doesn't die (I thought the same thing at first too - I just love how it's written). Then you find out why, but they never get any further so so far there has been no actual disappearance. Just a horrible death. I'm still traumatized. The actor who is L in the Deathnote/L movies is also Shin in the first Nana. I actually liked his replacement in the second one better - he looks exactly like Shin. It's creepy.
That does sound a little traumatizing. Maybe I won't read the rest of the Nana manga. I will re-watch the movies though. I can't remember who played Shin in that second movie. Will have to check the guy out.
