Embracing the Natural World

Accompanying Music - Happy Background Music

This turned out to be quite the productive weekend! I've actually been meaning to play around with my camera settings and figure out how to use my camera properly so it's always nice to have willing models to pose for me to experiment with.

Featuring Momoko Merry Go Round aka Kandy and various Flora and Fauna ...

The Saga of Kandy vs The Balloons ...

The other things Kandy witnessed during her excursion through the backyard ..

Snapshot of a little bee foraging for some sweetness in a nearby flower tree. (I still regret that I didn't have my Macro filter lens with me! But then again, I probably wouldn't have wanted to get closer than this to the bee in case it got angry and came after me! I was so lucky to even get this shot.)

Sad, discarded remnants of a former bower bird nest that has collapsed over time leaving rubble remains and sad dead twigs.

The persistent root of a nearby tree that has pushed its way through the earth to expose its skin to the air and sun. Creates a lovely little waterfall when the front yard gets flooded with rain.

An interesting shell I found in the garden bed. I found the textures so interesting.

Okay, so I have taken a lot of photos over the past few days. I am feeling content. I always do when I get to do and enjoy my hobby. I feel refreshed. Especially when photos turn out the way I want them too! I love my camera.

Happy Sunday everyone!

    1. Dolls have definitely re-ignited my love of taking photos. Plus they are such beautiful subjects to photograph. Although I am currently looking locally for someone who will be my live model for two hours and can agree to being paid in lunch and coffee! I want to try some live model portraits.

  2. Looks like you and Momoko had fun at the weekend.
Taking a walk with a camera is so relaxing.
I love your photos, especially Momoko on a tree. :)
And that shell seems to be covered with a kind of barnacles.

    1. Oh how fiddly that was to get her up on that branch without her falling over. I also had her balanced for all of 5 seconds on a rock with her arms out looking like she was walking up the rock but then she fell as there was some wind around. It would have made a great photo if not for the wind.

  3. More great photos, you're certainly keeping us happy with all your photos, so I'm glad to hear you're feeling good about them all too :)
I need to take more photos, I tend to be so boring with my dolls and my camera. :(

    1. I needed to de-stress after a particularly hard few weeks so this was a perfect time and opportunity to do it. I really miss it when I can't do it.

I don't think your boring with your photos at all. I always enjoy seeing what you post. To be honest, I have to be in the mood for this type of stuff otherwise my photos just don't turn out very good.

  4. Love, love, love this outdoor shoot Alasse, I can see from the results you enjoyed taking them. I really like the ones you took with Momoko, but the one with the bee is my favourite, it's beautiful.
    Big hugs,

    1. I had so much fun even if my neighbour across the road was side-eyeing me the whole time I was out in my yard carrying around a pink clad doll! I was surprised at how much I really didn't care. It was so ... freeing!

Oh my gosh you should have seen the pose I was making taking that. I was standing way back and was reaching my camera as close as I dared towards the bee while preparing to bolt if it came after me, hehehe.

  5. Enjoyed these photos! Agree that the shell really has some interesting textures! I miss being out more and taking photos, but it is so cold and my arm needs rest! But soon! :)

    1. Lucky I have a big enough back yard to find new areas to take photos in! It makes it more comfortable for me to take photos.
