Snap and Smile

I've been taking a lot of photos over the past few days. Of different subjects. It's been interesting, challenging and frustrating. But it's also been a lot of fun. I haven't had time until recently to really enjoy taking photos for a while so it was nice to have the time to be able to do this.

We'll start with one of my most neglected dolls. She's an Obitsu 48cm doll with the Mafuyu head. It's been such a long time since I posted her on this blog. I'm going to call her Anya.

Ms. Sunshine

I had plans to do a post on a few things but today ended up being one of those really lazy days in front of Netflix scoffing down easy to digest anime. I did end up taking some quick photos yesterday afternoon before all the light was gone after re-dressing a doll that I don't often take photos of.

Let me introduce Athena. I did have another name for her which I can't remember so I ended up giving her a new name and look. (Does that mean I have too many dolls if I can't remember all their names off the top of my head!!)

She is my 48cm Obitsu Mafuyu girl who has a custom face up by Ashley.

I had wanted a Dollfie Dream for a while but I wasn't sure how I felt about big vinyl dolls so I purchased this girl as a stepping stone to see whether I would like this type of doll or not. It turns that I do but I didn't want a huge amount of them. If anything, I might buy a Dollfie Dream or a Smart Doll one day and have a cut off of only two of these dolls in my collection. I'm in no hurry though as I want the resin dolls first.

Athena doesn't have a deep involved story like some of my other dolls. She's just a very optimistic and upbeat girl who likes to play the violin and is fascinated by Greek mythology. She's sixteen years old and her style is very much the Mori "Forest Girl" style. She likes particularly light, airy, fresh colours. She's definitely not a dark colour sort of girl. You won't find any black items of clothing in her wardrobe. She spends a lot of time roaming the nearby woods picking wildflowers and mushrooms. She loves making mushroom soup. She lives with her grandmother who is a soap maker. The village she calls home is a small, modest village with a population of about seventy people. The nearest big town is about a three day trip by horse. She also has a white cat that she calls 'Hercules'.

Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!

Fashion Doll Edition

Time is still getting away from me for the most part although finally, today, I did get to work on my new doll house. Hubby bought me a massive Barbie doll house for Christmas but as I wasn't super keen on the cartoon style wallpapers and drawings, I decided to refurbish it so I'm slowly covering it with new scrapbook paper and bringing it more in line with my modern styling.

I can however share some random photos I took whenever I got a chance over the past few weeks...

Shootin' the Breeze

Today was a quiet day, thankfully. I decided to redress some of my bigger dolls. Strangely, it took me the entire day!

Featuring Lira and Eve ...

Really wanted to see what Purple hair would look like on her. I think I rather like it.

Twas the Night Before Christmas ...

It is 9pm on Christmas Eve and I wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Whatever you decide to do, however you celebrate Christmas Day, I hope it is one filled with much happiness and much love.

Thank you for all your support. I went a bit crazy with the Christmas photos this year so be warned, there are quite a few!

Girls Day In

Can't believe it's Thursday already. Time is galloping past so fast these days.

I spent most of today re-dressing some of my dolls as my Luts order of wigs and eyes arrived.

Merida gets a blonde wig now coupled with blue eyes. Inera goes full pink. I really need to buy more clothes for this size.

Photo Sunday

Massively productive day today. I made three display stands out of foam core for my Pop Vinyl dolls, Nendoroids and Cu-poche figures following this nifty tutorial. I also added a window and curtains to my previous room box. And to finish the day, I made a 1/6 scale wooden bed. I'm still sewing the pillows, mattress and bed cover so I won't have photos of those until they're done.

I think this one will end up being my Momoko girl's lounge or front foyer. I'm working on her bedroom at the moment but it'll be sometime yet before it's done.

My Doll and I

It was a bit of a mad rush as I had to pick this new girl up before work this morning from the post office so I didn't get a chance to take a close look at her until I got home. It was a LONG day!

I'm talking about Rose Quartz Sahra from the Twinkle a la mode line. For those of you who have been reading my blog, you will already know the reason I got this girl was her very strong resemblance to my big Obitsu girl Lira.

I was really excited so didn't end up doing a proper box opening of her. You just get to see the "after" photos. Most Pureneemo dolls tend to come with a standard set of things. Rose Quartz came with only one extra pair of hands but that's okay as I already have a few different hand gestures from other dolls.

A Rose By Any Other Name...

Finally, I have given my Obitsu Mafuyu girl a name. It's only taken me a few months!

Let me introduce you to Lira. Her name came to me tonight when I was playing around with her wig style and colour. I had this gorgeous light brown wig lying around and thought I'd give it a whirl. I really like the colour on her. She'll have at least three wigs in total, each style designating her "stage in life". This one, short and boyish is Lira in her late teens (around the 17-19 age bracket) before she was scouted as "LI", lead singer of Blue Rhapsody.

Her theme song: Evolution ~ Ayumi Hamasaki

A Parcel and 50-04 Returns

Back from the face up artist Ashley of LovelyDollie.

Obitsu 50-04 Girl

She is currently wearing a temporary wig right now but I am planning to put her in blonde rather than this colour. This is a 9-10inch on her which is slightly big even with a protective cap on so I think I will need an 8-9inch wig. I adore how she turned out, perfect and exactly as I imagined. Sweet and innocent. Still haven't thought of a name for her yet.

My Poppy Parker redressed and posing for a photoshoot. I really love how this one turned out. I think this doll has a really sophisticated look to her no matter what she wears. I need to photography my FR girls more.

Obitsu 48cm Body - A Photo Review

Obitsu 48cm body with 50-02 Head

The Obitsu 48cm body wears a dress designed for MSD and SD13 tights. The 50-02 head takes a 7-8inch wig (the one she is wearing here is a LUTS wig). SD13 bottoms I have tried have been too big on her. MSD bottoms have been too small. MSD tops seem to fit okay although long sleeves tend to run a little short on the arms. SD13 tops are way too big on her. The 50-02 head is also wearing 18mm eyes. I have not tried any other size yet.

{I'm experimenting with embedding these from my flickr so let me know if they don't show up. Since Picasa is being retired in May I am having to look into alternatives to hosting my photos and embedding into my blog. Suggestions are welcome.}

Thoughts on Obitsu 50-04 on 48cm body

If you're interested in an in-depth review on the posing and parts of the body, Asenva did a video on the 48cm body here that is worth a look.

Today, I sent off 50-04 to her face up artist but managed to take some quick snaps of her before packing her head away.

I thought I would try Eve's wig on her to see if I liked the style and I do but prefer the colour to be either pale blonde or honey blonde.

Box Opening: Obitsu 50-04 & 48cm body

My 48cm Obitsu girl arrived today. I was a bit worried as she didn't come until late in the afternoon and I normally get my deliveries in the morning so they must have been super busy today. I ordered her from Parabox. They shipped super fast (basically within a few hours of my order! Yikes!). She was in stock though as are most of the items on their website (unless otherwise indicated).

Wearing a temporary wig. I will most likely get her better eyes and I am planning on making her a blonde but for now, here she is dressed. I really adore her face sculpt, even blank. I haven't decided on a name for her yet. I might wait until she gets a face. For now, I'm calling her 50-04.

WARNING: Partial doll nudity ahead.

Taking the Plunge

I've been wanting a big vinyl doll to add to my collection for a while so when I stumbled on a photo of this little cutie on the Obitsu blog, I was enchanted by her cute smile and big eyes.

Sadly the doll in the blog was a fullset that was a limited pre-order release back in 2014 or 2013, I'm not quite sure but suffice to say, she is no longer available. However, her blank head (50-04) is available and so is the 48cm Obitsu body that she was released on. (The only difference I can see is that the bodyset comes with the S bust instead of the M bust but that's okay. I can upgrade to the bigger bust but I kind of prefer the S bust anyway.)

Her blank photos showed such a gorgeous sculpt beneath the face up that I knew that I really liked her. I have lined up a face up artist already for when I have her head in hand but I ordered her today.

She will be my very first big Obitsu doll so I'm quite excited to see her in person. I remember when I first got into collecting the resin dolls that I came across Obitsu and had wanted to buy one back then but never did so it's nice that I've come full circle. I was always curious about their posing as that inner skeleton looks like all sorts of fun.

Speaking of Obitsu, I also came across a photo of the new 1/6 bodies they are working on and I'm quite excited. I might get one for one of my Pullips when they are released. And because I'm a geek and like to research about the companies I buy from, I saw this video on the big Obitsu bodies a few weeks ago and thought I'd share. It got me even more excited about Obitsu.

Of course, I had to make some big compromises in order to buy this doll. I had initially planned on trying to get the Azone Pureneemo Sera of Green Gables and Princess Mermaid Manami when they were released but I had to forego these two now. I also had an order in with HS for two Nendoroids (to be released in July) but cancelled them last night in order to buy Mafuyu. I'm happy with the decision because it came down to who I wanted more.
